We had the good fortune of connecting with Levean “myss Lovie” Pinkston and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Levean “Myss Lovie”, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As a service- connected disabled veteran, there are not many regular 9-5 jobs that I personally would be successful doing. After the military, I recognized how important music was to me when on those long deployments. I wanted to be that for my fellow service people that were still serving. I wanted to be a platform for those who didn’t realize how their art was impactful

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Love2Jam Radio is THE Houston GO-TO platform for independent artists and brands. The Radio station broadcasts world- wide, and is housed on all Radio platforms. We are different Because though we are Radio, we are streaming live visuals on our YouTube channel, & our multiple social media networks. We are also different because we PAY ARTISTS royalties. We are on the IHEARTRADIO Radio platform as an actual Radio Station, which is HUGE for an independent artist.
This independent game is always evolving and changing and that’s what keeps me excited about the field I am in. Being the stepping stone for all the up & coming artists in the city, and the artists passing through Houston, was a difficult place to carve out for my brand. It took consistency and staying ahead of the curve. Technology plays a big role, and just being a reliable Media outlet supported our mission, which is to Spin the Best Indie & Jams.
I want the world to know that just because you are disabled or are labeled as a “veteran,” you can still have dreams of being impactful and having an amazing quality of life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m not a native of Houston, but having been here since 2013, I have had many dope experiences. I’d take my people that visit downtown at night and ride scooters, do one of those booze bike rides, and have a list of food truck spots and taco spots to hit. I’d definitely take them to Galveston and hit the SeaWall, and take them to my favorite brunch spot LA LUCHA.
I do shows, so going to something with live artists performing is something I would indulge in.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to SHOUT OUT Tiffany Gaines, my mentor of 7 years in this indie music game, and my mom and family who stuck by me through all the entrepreneurial ups & downs. They were security, door operators and promo teams. The Love2Jam Family has always had my back and the brand would not be successful without their support & participation.
