We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazz Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazz, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
There’s not necessarily an “end goal”. But through makeup, I want to empower black women and girls in all ways. The beauty industry has come a long way in regards to inclusion. But still has quite a long way to go. Each and every one of us are uniquely beautiful and I plan on making sure I spread that message as far a I can through beauty and lifestyle blogging.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My love for makeup artistry runs deep. Everything about it. The bond I’ve gained with some of my clients may be the best part of all. It’s no longer just a service they’re getting done. They’re coming to see their good friend. I believe that’s what sets EnhancedByJazz apart from others. To be trusted in more ways than one is a wonderful feeling. Relationships are important to me. Social media has also helped me a great deal in forming those relationships. Quite a few of my Twitter followers are respective clients! With the pandemic, no makeup was done for over 4 months. Working (my day job) from home but no makeup really saddened me. I hadn’t even realized how getting to be creative really saved my life. The world should know that artists, big and small…Well known and unknown make this world go round. Don’t let anyone or anything deter you from creating.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being from Houston, most of my experiences are centered around food! But it depends on the mood we’re in. Feel like getting dressed up? Let’s go to Eddie V’s for drinks & lobster tacos. Sunday Funday? Let’s go to brunch at the Locker Room! Their lamb chops are fantastic and it literally feels like the tv show Cheers there (lol)

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly? My mom and best friend. They were the ones who let me use their cars when I was an upcoming artist with no money (lol) Also, to my family and close friends who believed in me more than I believed in myself. You’ll never understand how much it’s appreciated.
