We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrei Restrepo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrei, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For as long as I’ve been a freelance photographer & videographer, I’ve always wanted to run my own business in this field. The idea of building a creative agency that produces content at a professional level, and having a dream team! After landing in the real estate field many years ago thanks to my wife, I decided to purse real estate photography & videography. Fast forward a few year later, I left my full time job working as an on-staff photographer for a real estate team, and left to start my business – ProReal Media. The name is super unique I know.. as I shortened the phrase “Professional Real Estate Media” into the name it is now haha. I found that there was hole in the market for luxury real estate content so I based my business around that and aimed to dominate that niche. Fast forward to year 3 in business, we are definitely becoming known as the go-to real estate media company for luxury listings and high end social content.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Here at ProReal Media, we produces top notch photo & video content to help our clients stand out. Primarily based in the real estate space, we produce professional photos & videos of properties, captivating content for social media, higher end marketing videos, lifestyle & headshot photography, and much more. While we’re still a new business going into year 3, it was definitely not an easy path. I did everything myself all of first year – the shooting, editing, client relations, marketing, I wore every hat! Thankfully now, I have a strong team built with a real estate photographer, a full time video editor, other creatives I hire on a project basis, and I get to focus on what I truly love to do, which is doing video shoots and running the biz! While in the beginning it was so hard for me to let go the control of some things, it’s actually what was holding me back. The only way to grow your business is with a team you can count on. You can’t do it all yourself or you’ll either cap out, or burn out.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since I live in the Katy/Fulshear area, I actually love staying on this side of town. I guess I prefer the country & suburbs, over the city living. Just today, I had lunch at one of the best burrito spots in the area – Cabo Bobs! Mmm, so good. Another favorite lunch or dinner spot is On The Kirb, it’s an organic eatery & bar with awesome food and drinks! As far as things to do, my wife and I love going to Star Cinema to see the latest scary movie, or venture out to try new dinner spots or stick to our cozy favorites like Rincon Criollo, which is a cuban restaurant that probably no one knows about in the Houston area.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely owe a big shout out to my wife! She’s the only reason I landed in this field as she was in the title industry. She was always working with realtors and encouraged me to connect with some and start shooting for them. Up until that point, I was doing the typically photographer gigs – weddings, couples, portraits, events, etc. Crazy to think I run a full scale media business with a team in the real estate scene now!
