We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazlyn Jade and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jazlyn, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is a very important role in my life. I take risks every day in order to find myself and my happiness. In order to balance school and my creative lifestyle it’s almost inevitable to take risks.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been surrounded by art and expression since I was a toddler. Whether it’s music or fashion or acting, it’s always been a major part of my life. The very first thing that I’ve done was sang in church when I was four years old. I think that helped me realize that I love being in front of a crowd and making people smile. Shortly after that, I started taking acting classes and modeling. I stopped modeling and acting at seven years old and started again when I was 14. I faced many challenges due to me having to go back to acting school and start looking for new representation. However, I have learned to be patient and trust the process.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The great thing about living in Houston is that there is always something going on in the city. Day parties are always fun however, I am more of a night life person. I love getting dressed up and eating at fancy restaurants so that would be first on the itinerary. My favorite restaurants are mostly around the galleria area. Afterwards, I’ll spend time creating some kind of content for Instagram whether it’s taking pictures or making reels. Houston nightlife is organized by the days of the week so whatever day it is determines where I will go.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother deserves all the credit in my story. Since birth she has been my motivation. She will sacrifice anything to make me happy and successful. I feel so lucky to have a mother like her.
