Meet Taylor Arenz | Sports Reporter & Host/Emcee

We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Arenz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, what do you attribute your success to?
The key to success, in my view, is having unwavering belief in yourself and remaining committed to your goals. There will undoubtedly be moments when it feels as though your efforts are going unnoticed or yielding no immediate results. However, giving up only delays progress and may even prevent success altogether. The true path forward is to continue putting in the hard work, maintaining your belief, and trusting that, eventually, your perseverance will lead to the results you desire. While others may attribute your success to luck, you will know that it was your relentless dedication that made it possible.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I often get asked what sets me apart from others, and I think the answer lies in my diverse range of roles and my willingness to embrace everything that comes my way. People frequently joke, “What don’t you do?” because I truly try my hand at a little bit of everything. My love for sports plays a big part in this, and the seasons dictate the variety of work I take on. During the fall, for example, I’m fully immersed in football. I serve as a sideline reporter for Texas high school football, host a College Football Gameday show, and lead the Maxwell Football Club podcast. The energy and passion surrounding football keep me energized and engaged.
In the spring, my focus shifts. I take on play-by-play commentary for junior college softball and baseball and I work as a host and teacher for a dance competition. I grew up competing and dancing and was a professional dancer so to continue to Host at competitions were I competed as a child is such a full circle moment.
My passion for fitness is another key element of my life, so I teach fitness classes a couple of times a week. Each of these roles presents its own unique challenges and rewards, and I thrive in the variety and constant change.
One thing I’m most proud of is my tenacity and work ethic. Throughout my career, I’ve never been afraid to go after any dream, no matter how big or out of reach it seemed. I take pride in my ability to push myself beyond limits, to try new things, and to always give my best effort, no matter the circumstances. It’s this resilience that keeps me moving forward, even when things don’t go as planned.
Looking back, a lot of my success can be attributed to creating my own path. From the very beginning, I’ve had to take a proactive approach in shaping my career. I would often reach out to companies with the simple message, “I think you need me on your team.” I wasn’t waiting for opportunities to come to me; I was going after them. When the door closed on one job, I found another way in. For example, after being told “no” on multiple occasions, I created my own podcast, which opened doors to new projects and helped me build a name for myself. Was it easy? No. It’s still not easy, but I’ve learned that the hard work is always worth it. The experiences I’ve had and the people I’ve met along the way have made the journey incredibly fulfilling.
Overcoming challenges has been a constant theme throughout my career. For every success, there have been setbacks and rejections. In fact, I’ve kept every rejection letter I’ve ever received—there are plenty! But here’s the thing: when I face rejection, I don’t let it define me. I give myself a day to process the disappointment, to feel sad about it. Then, I move on. I’ve learned that every “no” is simply a redirection, and often what feels like a setback is actually guiding me toward something better. That’s been my approach—keep moving forward, no matter the roadblocks.
Through all of this, the biggest lesson I’ve learned is resilience. Success is not a straight line, and the path is rarely as we expect it to be. But if you keep your focus, stay persistent, and trust in the process, things tend to work out in ways you may not have initially imagined. I’ve learned to embrace those unexpected turns and see them as opportunities for growth.
If there’s one thing I want the world to know about me and my story, it’s this: never give up. Don’t be afraid to pursue your dreams, even when the road is tough. I’ve had the privilege of experiencing incredible opportunities, but I truly feel that I’m just getting started. Things don’t always work out the way we plan, but looking back, I can see how everything has come together perfectly. The message I want to share is simple—go after what you want, stay true to your goals, and know that the hard work you put in will always pay off in the end.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Houston is a vibrant city brimming with diverse activities, and one of its standout features is its incredible food scene. If I had to plan the perfect week in Houston, it would undoubtedly begin with some of the best dining experiences the city has to offer. For Tex-Mex, Pappasito’s is an absolute must-visit—its flavorful dishes are iconic. No trip to Houston would be complete without sampling authentic Texas BBQ, and Truth BBQ is known for serving some of the finest in the state.
For a change of pace, Riva’s Italian Restaurant in Montrose is a hidden gem, especially around the holidays when the entire restaurant is adorned with festive lights from top to bottom, creating a magical atmosphere.
Beyond the food, Houston offers a wealth of shopping opportunities and is home to NASA’s Johnson Space Center, along with a variety of exceptional museums that showcase the city’s rich cultural and scientific heritage.
To balance out the indulgence, Memorial Park provides a beautiful setting for exercise, with its popular Memorial Loop perfect for walking or running.
For accommodations, both The Post Oak Hotel and The Houstonian Hotel offer luxurious stays, complete with world-class spa treatments. And for sports enthusiasts, Houston is home to several professional sports teams, so be sure to check the schedule and catch a game during your visit. Whether you’re here for the food, the culture, or the entertainment, Houston has something for everyone.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family has been a cornerstone of my success. I am fortunate to have supportive parents who have encouraged me to chase every dream I’ve had and have been there for me every step of the way. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to pursue a variety of paths. At 18, I moved to Los Angeles to follow my dream of becoming a professional dancer. Later, I spent several months in Florida working as the In-Game Host for MLB Spring Training. I also had the privilege of being the In-Game Host for the Austin Spurs, a role that required me to commute between Austin and Houston for each game. None of these opportunities would have been possible without the unwavering support of my parents, and for that, I am incredibly grateful and truly fortunate.
