Meet Cristina Ayala

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cristina Ayala and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cristina, what matters most to you?
What matters to our business the most is to provide the best tasting and lowest priced Vegan Kolaches in the state of Texas to the most people possible. This is important to us because we want to provide people the option to still eat familiar foods while not paying to do unnecessary harm to animals.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been vegan for more than 8 years. In that time, I’ve been teaching people about the possibilities for them to do the least harm possible with their choices surrounding diet, clothing, household products, and more. This has not been easy, as people are often resistant to change, even when they know that it will be for their own benefit as well as those around them. Learning to meet people where they’re at and having them implement small changes to achieve easy wins always encourages people and shows them that they are capable of making even more positive changes going forward.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a weeklong trip, I would take people to several cafes and breakfast spots in the mornings including: The Ginger Mule, Un Caffe, Native Coffee, Black Hole Coffee, and Vegan Donut and Gelato.
There are a few parks and trail areas on the West end, and there are lots of outdoor pickleball courts that we can go to as well. There are a few places to play some pick-up sand volleyball that I’ve enjoyed going to in the past as well.
Getting to the beach is only ~45 minutes drive and is a fun day trip to explore downtown Galveston shops and hang out at a cool cafe watching the cruise ships come and go at Harbor’s Edge.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our head chef learned to cook from their grandma and have been passionate about cooking and baking since they were little thanks to her. Their Czech ancestry has been the biggest influence on bringing Vegan Kolaches to the people.
