We had the good fortune of connecting with Rasta Mendoza and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rasta, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I just feel like that’s what I was meant to do. Even from a young age I knew it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well we play reggae music, I guess what sets us apart is not only being able to play the awesome genre of reggae is how much fun we have on stage. We got to where we are by just dedication and hard work. Never giving up on your dreams. Sounds cliche but it’s true. Lol. It was definitely not easy to get here. Lots of working normal day jobs to pay bills since we don’t make a lot playing music. But we still do it. Just stay humble and spread love.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would say go to Galveston island or kemah if you’re south of Houston. If you’re in the city there’s so many good restaurants to check out. My favorite would be Oporto Fooding House & Wine. Amazing Portuguese food there. Also there’s POST Houston which has lots of vendors and food inside there as well. There’s lots of parks to see here.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Dedicate to all of my music teachers over the years and people who have supported us throughout the years
