We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Benoit and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsay, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I have never been afraid to take risks or try new things and in our line of work that has helped me tremendously. “Leaning into fear” is something I discuss with our team all the time! Every catering or dessert order we take and event we plan is new in its own way.

When I left the corporate world behind the risk for myself, my family, and those who took the jump with me was high but that risk pushed me to be more creative, thoughtful, and proactive as a business owner and leader.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Pretty Baked Sweets, Events, and More was founded on the principal of providing affordable options for people in our community looking to make lasting memories. We also pride ourselves on finding a way to say “YES”! Do you need a wedding cake? Yes, we can absolutely do that! Oh and you need a coordinator to help organize the big day? Yes, we do that too! It’s not just about those big events either, it’s all the birthday parties, baby showers, and special events in between that make us stand out! If you have a request it can be fulfilled here, with us. There is nothing more we want than to bring your special event to life and achieve the vision of our client. It is our belief that anything is possible and any client vision can become reality. With that mindset we built a business that allows clients a “one stop shop” for all their event needs… ranging from balloons, floral and decor to catering and desserts of all kinds. And we do it all with the goal of reducing stress, taking away the worry and allowing our clients to have the best event possible!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to Galveston and visit The Strand and East Beach. We would see the people, by hanging at The Spot and grabbing a drink, eat the amazing food at restaurants like The Original, Sunflower Bakery, and Shrimp & Stuff , see the sites by taking the ferry or sitting on Pier 21 to see the ships, and visiting the shops on The Strand. When we first moved here we lived in Galveston and it holds a special place in our hearts. I would take them to the Johnson Space Center and the surrounding area. The Space Center itself is so interesting and unique to our area and the food close by is great as well.

Herman Park has so much to it! An amazing Park, the zoo, the museums… the food! See a theme here? ; )
And I would take them to The Heights and Montrose for the night life and food.
Lastly, I would take them to The Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavillion to see a concert on the lawn.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I decided to become a business owner I was able to credit so much support to my husband, Nick. He is always there to jump in and help me with anything I ask no matter how big or small. He has outdone himself in so many ways from jumping back in to wait tables during catering events to the manual labor of building and setting up backdrops… not to mention the number of balloons he has shined. He loves our family endlessly and is always supportive, even when there are late nights decorating cakes in the bakery and the kids, Mia, Linden, and Vivi, need help with their homework and school projects. He continues to love me and support each of my business decisions as we grow together as a family. I also have to thank my mom, Linda, for also always being available when I or my family need her. She is an angel. Cindy and Lisa are two of the most loyal and amazing people I have met in my journey. On the hardest and best days they are always who I choose to call. And Kayla, I am thankful for our partnership and our friendship. Being a business owner can be lonely at times. Our work together has removed much of that loneliness and our varying business strengths make us stronger together. I am so grateful and blessed. Last but not least the Pretty Baked Sweets Team as a whole amazes and inspires me every day. I am so incredibly thankful for every single person who has ever put their efforts in to providing an amazing experience for our clients.
