Meet Tieranny Decuir | Legal Studies Professor, Resume Writer, Author, and Entrepreneur (Founder of Too Much Cosmetics & Too Much Hair Collection)

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tieranny Decuir and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tieranny, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
What was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started Too Much Cosmetics, my thought process was driven by a passion for beauty and the desire to provide high-quality, cruelty-free lip products at an affordable price. I wanted to create a brand that not only enhances confidence but also prioritizes ethical beauty. I noticed a gap in the market where many affordable options lacked quality, and high-end products weren’t always accessible to everyone. My goal was to bridge that gap by offering luxurious, long-lasting lip glosses, liquid lipsticks, liners, scrubs, and oils that cater to all beauty lovers. Too Much Cosmetics is about embracing boldness, self-expression, and inclusivity while ensuring that no compromises are made on quality or ethics.
What value or principle matters most to you? Why?
The value that matters most to me is loyalty. Loyalty is the foundation of strong relationships—whether personal or professional—and it represents trust, commitment, and support. I believe in being loyal to the people who have shown me kindness, as well as staying true to my values.
Alongside loyalty, respect is also crucial. I believe in treating everyone with kindness, regardless of their race, age, or status. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and fairness. Respect is what fosters positive connections, helps build inclusive communities, and allows us to understand and appreciate the differences that make us unique.
In both my career and personal life, these principles guide my actions and decisions, and I strive to lead by example—creating environments where everyone feels valued and supported.
What’s the end goal? Where do you want to be professionally by the end of your career?
By the end of my career, my ultimate goal is to become an attorney, while continuing to successfully run all of my businesses, including Too Much Cosmetics & Too Much Collection. I envision expanding these ventures and ensuring they continue to empower and uplift others, especially young women.
Additionally, I want to establish a non-profit organization focused on mentoring young females, guiding them toward success in both their personal and professional lives. I hope to provide them with the tools, resources, and encouragement they need to achieve their dreams, just as I have worked to do in my own life. Ultimately, I want to leave a legacy of empowerment, success, and positive change for the generations to come.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career is a blend of education, entrepreneurship, and creativity. As a Legal Studies Professor, Resume Writer, Author, and Entrepreneur, I have always been passionate about empowering others—whether through education, career development, or beauty and self-expression.
What sets me apart is my ability to navigate multiple industries while staying true to my mission of uplifting and inspiring others. I take pride in being a lifelong learner and mentor, helping students succeed academically, assisting professionals in crafting standout resumes, and providing high-quality, cruelty-free beauty products through Too Much Cosmetics & Hair Company.
As a Legal Studies Professor, I prepare future paralegals for success in law firms, courthouses, corporations, and even their own freelance paralegal businesses. My educational background—an Associate of Applied Science, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, a Master’s in Public Administration, and a Master’s of Education in Special Education—reflects my dedication to continuous growth and learning.
The journey to where I am today has not been easy. I have faced challenges, from balancing multiple responsibilities to overcoming setbacks in business and academia. However, my resilience, faith, and strong support system have helped me push forward. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that growth comes from perseverance—success is not just about talent but about consistency, adaptability, and the willingness to learn from failures.
I thrive on being an example for young Black girls, showing them that success is possible through resilience, education, and self-determination. I know I have made mistakes, but I have always overcome obstacles because I believe that life is a test that gives you a testimony.
Through my brand and story, I want the world to know that anything is possible with determination and vision. Too Much Cosmetics is not just a beauty brand; it represents confidence, inclusivity, and self-love. My career as an educator reflects my commitment to knowledge and empowerment. My journey is proof that you can break barriers and thrive in multiple spaces, and I hope to inspire others to do the same.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my grandmothers, mother, and father. Their unwavering love, wisdom, and support have been the foundation of my journey. They instilled in me the values of hard work, perseverance, and faith, which have guided me in every aspect of my life—from education and entrepreneurship to personal growth. Their encouragement and belief in my dreams have fueled my passion and determination, and I am forever grateful for the lessons and strength they have passed down to me.
