Meet Alex Bachoura | Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Bachoura and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alex, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We are specialists in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, a specialty of the field of Dentistry.
I started my business in 2011. At the time there was a need for our Specialty in the Cypress area. Access to care was an issue and patients had only a few options in town. We opened our first practice in Cypress and grew to six practice locations and 9 doctors since then.
Our mission is to provide access to affordable surgical care with quality work.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Long story short. I am was not born in the USA. When my family immigrated to California I was in high school. I took on a Jewelry making job to support the family at a young age. My grades were good enough to get a scholarship into USC. My Jeweler boss convinced me to go to Dental school. In his words “dentistry is just jewelry making in the mouth”!.
While I was studying at USC school of dentistry I fell in love with the filed of Oral and maxillofacial surgery. I got accepted into the UT Houston Oral Surgery program. This is an intense 6 year program where you get to graduate from Medical school as well. I was extremely fortunate to go through such a program as I had the opportunity to work with the best doctors from the fields of General Surgery, Neurosurgery, ENT, cardiology and Anesthesia. I even worked with the famous “red’ duke from Memorial Hermann trauma center.
Throughout my training while working with great doctors. I took home a few lesson.
1. Life is too short (and can be cut short) so do not waste any time.
2. Whatever you want to accomplish is possible. No matter where your starting point is.
3. Showing up every day and staying focused on your 10 year goal is key to success.
4. Stay humble.
5. Never stop learning.
6. Never give up.
As far as our brand. Sadly most people do not know what we do and do not know about our extensive training. My own mother thinks I still do “fillings”. It is my mission to educate the public about how special the field of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery is. When you are under the care of an “oral & Maxillofacial surgeon”, you are receiving the highest quality of care in the filed of dentistry.
