We had the good fortune of connecting with ROTYRA ANDERSON and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ROTYRA, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be an entrepreneur. I wanted to create a prosperous legacy for my family. Before salon suites were the new norm, I dreamed of owning an all-inclusive establishment where people could get everything beauty/fashion/health related in one spot. I now see that idea booming and I learned two lessons, “ain’t nothing to it, but to do it” and “there’s no shame in failure only in not trying”. So, I decided to try and built The MillionHairess. My son, Rian, coined the name which is a play on the word heiress. The logo is the initials “MH” with an upside down Breast Cancer Symbol connecting the two. All the product names are financially related, keeping the mind focused on wealth and investing in your grooming health.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Inspired by the inability to find quality hair extensions and styling products, The MillionHairess has been dedicated and passionate about cultivating a company with a diverse clientele comprised of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds enjoying exceptionally crafted human hair extensions and nourishing styling products. Sourcing ethical and reliable vendors has been a difficult task. Research, sampling, references, patience, and a great deal of time are crucial tools in starting and maintaining a company. The MillionHairess is part of an established, professional community in one of the swiftest growing segments of the beauty industry. Carving out space for your company is a full-time task. Finding ways to be creative in the world of social media can be challenging and business owners have to stay abreast of what’s on trend to remain relevant by creating content and products that address the needs of their clients.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Because I’m an introvert, staying in or having intimate gatherings is my go to.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It would be a disservice to everyone’s involvement to name individual names. I have an amazing support system that allows me to be open and honest about my fears as well as my successes. They’ve all encouraged and supported me in various ways throughout this journey. If they are reading this, they know I am speaking of them personally.
