Meet Kyrah Prince | Lash Tech & Braider

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyrah Prince and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kyrah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
For me, the biggest risk I’ve taken is starting my own business. It’s so many things that go on behind the scenes of every business owner that no one knows about. From clientele to crunching numbers, late nights and early mornings , it’s a very complicated task, but I love it. It’s given me the freedom to express myself through my work. It’s given me a new perspective on life and how I should carry myself. It’s one of the best risks I’ve taken this far. It’s also encouraged me to take advantage of opportunities that I come across no matter how small I think it is. One opportunity or one person could end up changing my life for the better. I’ve been running my business for about 4 years and these last two have been the most eye opening for me. Of course with any business you never stop learning and that’s one of the best things about the whole thing. I never want to stop learning and evolving to making the best business decisions I can. Discipline, consistency, and knowledge have helped me grow into the person I am today. None of this would be possible if I didn’t take the risk of just starting. Starting is hard, but if you don’t start you’ll never get to see the opportunities ahead in your journey!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a little girl, I’ve always been creative. I kind of had to be. I had a lot of siblings and one parent that worked all the time while the other one was sick. Getting my hair done was a luxury we couldn’t afford most times so I had to teach myself how to braid. Of course it took lots of trial and error and my Guinea pigs were my sisters lol , but it made me a better braider in the end. Now anything I can do on myself I know I can do on my clients. It makes me so happy knowing that all my hard work paid off eventually even when I couldn’t see the big picture.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Downtown Houston is the spot for sure! It has all types of good food spots and lounge areas like lost n found or Kamp. Or if you want to do a little shopping the galleria mall is the perfect place to hit. If you’re looking for more outdoor fun I’d suggest hiking or camping in Huntsville.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Nanxsbraids on instagram! She is a very talented braider that I get inspiration from. Her work speaks for itself!
