Meet Georgena M. | Founder & Creative Artist | Poxy Rose

We had the good fortune of connecting with Georgena M. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Georgena, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
“Follow trends to succeed.” While trends can bring temporary visibility, I believe in creating pieces that reflect individuality and long-term appeal. My brand is eclectic and doesn’t fit into a single mold, and I think that uniqueness is what keeps customers coming back.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My journey as a creative started from a place of survival. As a homeless teenager, I sold beads, bracelets, and even pencils at the post office just to make ends meet. One day, an older woman showed interest in my bracelets, and in that moment, I realized something important—everyone has a talent.
We may not always know what our talent is, where it will take us, or who it’s meant for, but if we’re willing to take the journey, we will find it. That realization pushed me to keep creating, to experiment with different forms of art, and to eventually build Poxy Rose, where I turn color, texture, and design into pieces that bring joy to others.
It hasn’t been easy—learning the business side, balancing creativity with marketing, and overcoming self-doubt all came with their challenges. But through it all, I’ve learned resilience, adaptability, and the value of genuine connections with my customers.
What sets Poxy Rose apart is the heart behind every piece. I don’t just create products—I create keepsakes, expressions of individuality, and little bursts of joy. I want the world to know that no matter where you start, your passion and creativity can take you further than you ever imagined.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m originally from New Jersey, but I fell in love with Texas after taking a 24-hour drive to get here. One moment that really stood out to me was at 2 AM when a driver slammed on their brakes while going 90 mph—no one got mad, we all just adjusted, found our correct lanes, and kept going. That moment made me realize how different the culture here is—laid-back, adaptive, and just rolling with life.
One of my favorite places to go is The Post—especially around Christmas. The skyline view from there is stunning, and it always gives me a moment to appreciate the beauty of the city. The culture, the food, the overall vibe—Houston just has something special.
If I were showing my best friend around for a week, we’d definitely hit up some of the best vegan spots in the city (because Houston’s got options!). Downtown in general is always a fun place to explore—there’s great energy, amazing food, and so much to do.
Texas stole my heart, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a huge shoutout to my wife, who has been my biggest supporter through every step of this journey. Her encouragement, patience, and belief in my vision have kept me motivated, even on the toughest days.
I also want to thank my family and close friends for their constant support and feedback—whether it’s helping me brainstorm new ideas, testing products, or simply cheering me on.
Finally, a big thank you to my customers and followers! Every order, review, and message means the world to me. Your support fuels my creativity and allows me to continue growing Poxy Rose into something special.
