We had the good fortune of connecting with Christa Melchor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always loved the beauty industry—since I was young, I was obsessed with makeup. As I got older, that passion grew into skincare, and I fell in love with the idea of transforming a canvas and helping people feel their best. Starting my own business gave me the creative freedom to bring my vision to life from the ground up. I wanted to curate a space that felt comforting, welcoming, and true to me, a place where clients could relax, be themselves, and leave feeling more confident. It was important for me to build something authentic, where both the energy and experience reflect who I am and what I value.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have so much passion for what I do, and that fire has never dimmed, not since the day I started. I feel incredibly grateful to be able to connect with so many amazing souls through my work. For me, it’s never just about a beauty service. I strive to create a space where my clients can feel completely comfortable, let their hair down, and leave feeling better than they did when they walked in. I put everything into making sure they feel seen, cared for, and at their best—every single time.

I got to where I am through sheer determination. Even as a kid, I knew I wanted something of my own, something I could build from the ground up. Starting a business hasn’t been easy; it takes a huge amount of discipline, grit, and consistency, even on the hard days when life hits you unexpectedly. Earlier this year, I lost my little brother, someone so special to me. Navigating that grief while still showing up for my business and clients has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. But I’ve found a strength in myself that I didn’t know existed, and I keep going because I know it’s all part of my purpose.

What I want people to know is this: whatever dream you have, it’s possible. I’m just a regular girl who came from a normal background, and I built this through belief in myself and relentless effort. I’ve always been independent and driven, and if you have that spark in you, you can do it too. Aliza Aesthetics is rooted in authenticity, comfort, and care, and I hope that shines through in everything I do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If you know me, you know I’m a foodie and I love East Downtown—it’s my favorite area in Houston, hands down. So first stop would be BBQ at J-Bar-M, one of my go-to spots. After that, we’d head over to Eight Row Flint for a drink and chill vibes. Honestly, you can’t go wrong anywhere in East Downtown, it’s full of energy and good food.

At some point, we’d definitely be going to Segundo Swim Club—I’ve been wanting to go myself! I love good music, drinks, and a pool. We’d also take a beach day trip to Galveston with music, bring snacks, and just relax by the water. Nothing is better than a good beach day and vibes.

And I have to take her to my favorite burger spot, Champ Burger—it’s a must. Somewhere during the week, we’d make sure to fit in a seafood boil too, because you can’t visit Houston and not get a little of everything.

Good food, good music, and good vibes all week long, that’s how we’d do it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and closest friends have supported me from the very beginning—even before I officially started this business. As I mentioned, I fell in love with makeup at a young age, and they were always the first to let me practice on them and cheer me on. Their encouragement meant everything, especially in an industry where not everyone always takes your passion seriously. I’ve heard so many stories of people being told beauty isn’t a “real” career, but I’ve been lucky to have people in my corner who never made me feel that way. My mom especially has always believed in me and reminded me that I could, and should chase my dreams. That kind of support has made all the difference.
