We had the good fortune of connecting with Anne Billips Hamilton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anne, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After nearly seven years as a stay-at-home mom, I found myself needing to return to work and generate income—but I also needed flexibility. I have a degree in Political Science from Texas A&M, but all of my professional experience was in education. With three of my four children still too young for school, going back to a traditional classroom teaching setting would have meant paying full-time daycare for three kids—leaving me with little to no income on a teacher’s salary after expenses.

I knew I needed to find something that allowed me to work on my own terms. I explored a lot of options, but real estate had always been in the back of my mind. For years, I followed the local market on HAR like it was a sport. Long after I purchased my first home, and had no real business to continue stalking my HAR app nightly—I knew when price-per-square-foot trends were up or down in my neighborhood—I was practically doing market analysis for fun. It started as a hobby, but in hindsight, I believe God had been nudging me toward this career all along.

Completing my coursework—while juggling toddler twins at home—was no small feat. But once I passed my exams and began to understand what it meant to be a full-time real estate agent in practice, it felt like a lightbulb went off. I realized that everything I had done up to that point—my education which involved critically analyzing data, my skills as an educator, my ability to connect with people, multitask, problem-solve, and communicate clearly—had uniquely prepared me for this business. Real estate became the career I didn’t even know I was being prepared for all along.

What should our readers know about your business?
Real estate is what I do, but community is who I am. At the heart of my business is a deep commitment to serving—not just my clients, but the community I live in and love. I’ve built my business around the belief that showing up for people matters, whether it’s handing over keys to a dream home or helping neighbors in small but meaningful ways.

I host annual “Back to School” photo nights on the front porch of our local elementary school—giving parents a cute photo op for their kids, and at the same time raising funds for one of my favorite local charities. Twice a year, I coordinate a donation truck to come to our neighborhood to benefit our local women’s center. These events are about more than real estate—they’re about connection, giving back, and reminding people that we’re in this life together. I’m always looking for ways I can use my business to provide value, connection and service to my neighborhood and greater community.

When it comes to my clients, I approach every transaction with the same care I’d want for my own parent, sister, or son. I’m not afraid to tell the hard truths—even if that means losing a deal—because honesty and integrity are the foundation of everything I do. I’m not chasing quick sales; I’m building relationships that last. My goal is to be your go-to person not just for one transaction, but for life.

Getting here wasn’t easy. I started this business while navigating the challenges of single parenthood and the aftermath of leaving an abusive marriage. I had to rebuild my confidence, find my footing, and work harder than I ever had before. But I showed up every day—with grit, grace, and a commitment to doing right by others. And slowly but surely, it grew.

Along the way, I’ve learned that authenticity wins. People can feel when you genuinely care—and that’s what sets my business apart. I want the world to know that this isn’t just about houses. It’s about people. It’s about service. And it’s about building something bigger than just a business—it’s about building a life filled with purpose, relationships, and impact.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly, nothing beats hanging out with my best girlfriends in sweatpants on the couch—this is 40, right? But if we’re doing a week-long bestie adventure, I’ve got a list of local gems that would give her the full Fort Bend + Houston experience.

We’d kick things off with breakfast tacos from Bob’s Tacos in Rosenberg—hands down the best around. Then we’d grab coffee (and maybe a second round) from my favorite local roaster, HunterBeans Coffee Roasters (and he’s not just my favorite because he’s now my husband, I pink swear!), before wandering the dreamy aisles at Enchanted Gardens Nursery in Richmond. We’d pretend we’re plant moms who definitely won’t kill our new green babies (spoiler alert: we will).

In Houston, we’d head to Hermann Park for a long walk, then visit the Houston Zoo—especially if it’s one of those rare, glorious cool-weather days. One afternoon, we’d totally treat ourselves with a little staycation-style luxury at the Marriott Marquis Houston’s Altitude Rooftop & Pool. Yes, that’s the one with the Texas-shaped lazy river. (This is actually still on my Houston bucket list!)

We’d sprinkle in good food, like dinner at State of Grace or Lupe Tortilla for something Tex-Mex-y and fun, maybe drinks and meeting up with friends for Trivia Night closer to home at a laid-back local spot like The Growler Spot. And in between the outings, there would be plenty of downtime—because at the end of the day, quality time (and queso) is really what it’s all about.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I absolutely owe so much of my success to the cheerleaders God placed in my path throughout this journey.

First and foremost, joining Keller Williams Premier was one of the best decisions I made. Their culture of training, mentorship, and empowering agents to be true business owners made all the difference. In my early days, I walked into a training class, and our office team leader, Markeith Spears, shouted across the lobby, “There goes Anne! She’s gonna be one of the good ones—you can just tell!” He probably forgot those words the second he said them, but I never did. It was a small moment that lit something inside me. He believed in me—before I really believed in myself.

That same kind of encouragement showed up again in my very first transaction, which happened to be with a top-producing agent in my own office, Chris Hiller. I was so nervous—he was the kind of agent I looked up to. But he was kind, supportive, and generous with his time. After we closed the deal, he invited me over to his home for dinner and to watch baseball with other high-performing agents. I felt like an imposter. As I left, his wife Maureen pulled me aside and said, “This might sound crazy, but I feel like I’m supposed to tell you: dress for success and expect great things.” Her words, and Chris’s later encouragement, spoke to a part of me I didn’t even know was still alive.

Around that same time, I met Jennifer Rienstra, a mortgage officer who quickly became a friend and collaborator. After one of our very first open houses, she looked at me and said, “I don’t know what it is, but you’ve got it. You’re going to kill it as an agent.” She probably doesn’t even remember saying it—but I’ll never forget it.

These people—and so many others—spoke life into me. They believed in me at a time when I was coming out of a decade-long abusive marriage, a time when I still believed a lot of the lies that had been spoken over me: about what I lacked, what I couldn’t do, how I would fail. Their belief gave me the courage to start believing in myself. And that changed everything.
