Meet Days

We had the good fortune of connecting with Days and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Days, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve been singing since I could remember and writing songs since Kindergarten. When I was little, I was always told to be more “realistic” and that I would never be able to be an artist. For a long time, I had given up on my dream and it wasn’t until I met my now Husband who sparked that creativity in me again to begin to pursue music on a serious level. For the longest, I thought I wasn’t creative enough, but I’ve learned that my gifts just weren’t nurtured. Since releasing Christian music, people have reached out to me saying that my music helps them, and that’s confirmation that this is where I’m supposed to be.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I didn’t grow up in the Christian space at all. I was saved at 17 years old after trying to go about life in my own way. I had just lost my mom at 16 and had no where to turn to. But God. I’m excited to see where the journey of pursuing music takes me. I’ve already made so many connections and friends in this space. I’ve received the opportunity to perform my own original music several times and have now become a worship leader at my church, Celebration of Life. I am self taught – very little music training, It was definitely not easy to get to where I am today, but anyone can do it. I truly believe you can do anything you set your mind to because it constantly is proven in my own life despite any challenge I go through. I’ve learned how to be patient, and every day I grow in discipline. My goal with music is to provide a community where we can relate to one another and understand that we are not alone.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots in Htown are Kung Fu Tea (Oreo Milk Tea), Ironworks, Discovery Green (best for content), and Jinya. Kung Fu Tea is the best spot to grab a quick milk tea and Jinya is the best little meeting spot. Ironworks is a great place to shop local small business and discovery green is a great place to shoot content and see new faces. They always have something going on.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this shoutout to Jesus and my husband, Wave. Being a rapper himself, he supports me every single day in everything I do. I said I wanted to start pursuing music, and he started recording my songs and mixing them so I could put them out in the world.
