Meet Amanda Walker | CPA & Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As a working mom of 3 kiddos, I had always been frustrated by the lack of flexibility in a corporate environment. After my third child was born, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I left my Corporate Accounting Manager position and started my own business with just one client. Since that time I have grown my business to serve dozens of small business owners in the Missouri City area and beyond. I have also truly grown a passion for providing high quality service to these clients. Additionally, I have grown my team to include four other working moms that now have the ability to support their families, utilize their skills and do so all while working around the needs of their families.

What should our readers know about your business?
Sienna Consulting was started in December 2017 as Amanda C. Walker, CPA, LLC. We rebranded in the fall of 2019 as Sienna Consulting. Our mission is to provide the highest quality tax and accounting services to small business owners. We are not your average CPA firm. Our model revolves around truly partnering with our clients to help their businesses succeed. We value trust, innovation and transparency. Our goal is to take the burden of accounting and tax compliance off of the plate of small business owners, thus allowing them to focus their efforts on what truly matters for their business. As a small business owner myself, I understand how many hats a small business owner wears and how challenging that can be on a daily basis. Part of overcoming this challenge has been learning where to outsource and delegate and where to really focus my attention.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of my favorite places in Houston include restaurants. I am a fourth generation Houstonian and I am very proud of this awesome city, but when it comes down to it, where Houston really offers the best experience is in the culinary world. Some of my favorite spots include: The Original Ninfa’s, Brennan’s, El Tiempo, Anvil (best cocktails), Brasserie 19, Thai Cottage and one of our local Missouri City faves Brandani’s. Some of my other favorite (non-food) spots would include Space Center Houston, the Galleria, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Houston Zoo (and train of course), and the Children’s Museum.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Elizabeth Barbour is a life and business coach and she was invaluable in mentoring me as my business grew over the last year.
