We had the good fortune of connecting with Tracie Whitacre and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tracie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Customer service! People can spend their money on all kinds of entertainment so we want to make sure they have the best time while visiting our escape rooms. Customer service isn’t just about smiling faces from our employees but also warming conversation, a clean facility, well-trained employees so your experience playing the escape room is fun, fast responses to messages and emails and being as flexible as possible to accommodate customer requests. We like our customers to feel at home and at ease from the initial phone call or online booking to their arrival and finally the exciting escape from one of our themed rooms.
What should our readers know about your business?
Houstonians have many choices when it comes to spending their hard earned entertainment dollars and free time. We are very proud that we can offer an experience to people that makes them feel like they made a great choice in spending time with us. The ongoing journey of owning a business is never easy. There have been many challenges and mistakes made along the way. We accept that there will be challenges, accept those challenges and then work to overcome them in a way that makes sense as an entertainment venue trying to provide the best experience for our customers. Along the way we have learned to be careful when you share the responsibility for the completion of your vision. We have big ideas for escape rooms and we have found there are many vendors out there who can overpromise and under deliver when it comes to outsourcing some of the tasks. Fortunately we have found local artists, builders and designers who have helped us bring our rooms to life. We hope people know that Escape Again is about bringing people together, away from their phones and other distractions, and giving them a chance to build a shared experience together. Moments that they can tell each other over and over again, share a laugh and remember the fun they had.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Go to third ward (east end) and try one of the many “hole in the wall” restaurants that serve amazing food and enjoy the outside environment (especially after a cold front) Go down to the museum district and hit up the zoo and maybe a couple of museums and the butterfly center Go down to Galveston to visit historic homes, go to the beach, ride the ferry and maybe eat at one of the amazing restaurants on the Strand. Head up to Brenham and visit the Blue Bell factory and then maybe over to Shiner to visit the Shiner brewery
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Co-Owner, David Sebek, is instrumental in helping deliver fun, unique and creative escape rooms with the best customer service in town.
