We had the good fortune of connecting with Albert Chen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Albert, why did you pursue a creative career?
If I am not on my way home, I must be on the way to photograph. This statement mostly describes why I pursue an artistic or creative career. That is, I love photographing to the greatest extent. It’s more than my dream job. It’s now my daily life. Though I have never received any professional training in Art or gone to an Art school, I find myself having great senses of artistic work. The token is the global recognition that I have received from photo contests. As now, my photographs have been awarded by 17 international photography contests. The self-trained artistic development is also instrumental to my professional development. I now own a professional photography firm serving both photography and cinematography.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As mentioned, I have been a cityscape and fine art photographer, and now also a professional photographer, specializing in event, wedding, and portrait photography. I loved to capture the prosperity of a city and skyscrapers in downtown. The fascinating and colorful lights in a city during the night are most attracting to me. I also shoot creative fine art photographs, most in black and white. Being a professional photographer is what I love and have passion about. Thus, I take every challenges down the road as learning opportunities. Over years of professional development, I am now rated top 1 event photographer in Houston areas and have a 5-start review from my past clients in several platforms. One can also easily find my website by google search keyword “event photographer” or “Houston event photographer”.
If you had friends visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely go to Astros’ game at Minute Maid Park. I have been a big fan of baseball game since I was in high school. So, I get very excited to watch the game every time I visited the Astros’ dome. I would like to share this Astros experience with my best friends, too. They surely will be amazed once they have the chance to watch the game. I also would like to tour them to some major attractions within and around the city such as Kemah boardwalk, museum district, and Hermann Park. In addition, there are some murals around the Houston areas. It will be fun to take some pictures with the murals. Perhaps, a trip to Galveston will be entertaining. We can enjoy the ocean breeze, take a walk along the coast, visit historic downtown, stop by pleasure piers, and have a dinner at Bubba Gump restaurant for seafood. For other food, the iconic Texas-style restaurant, the Taste of Texas steak house, will be one of my choices to bring them for dinner. And, they won’t miss the southern famous cuisine, boiled crawfish, in Katy, either.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My dedicated thanks for my success go to three of most important persons, my wife and my parents, in my life. My life has been like roller coaster, going up and down several times. There has been some down time during my life. They always stand by my side, with tremendous patience, and encourage me to pursue my dream. Especially, I trust that my dad, in the heaven, is blessing me toward the road of career success. Other people I would like to thank for are my clients. My clients have been very diversified. Other than U.S., I also have served clients whose origins are from different countries. Their country origins included United Kingdom, Canada, Taiwan, Egypt, Turkey, Vietnam, Mexico, India, Pakistan, Japan, Malaysia, Philippine, and among others. I appreciate the opportunities to work with them and learn their cultures and traditions. And, more importantly, their trust in me has been most encouraging factor into the sense of my achievements. They put their love, joy, lifestyle, personality, their event day, special moments, and many others on my hand, in my eyes, and through my camera. They inspire me to be creative, think outside the box, and see things differently. The images I captured for them are not just an art but also story and philosophy. As a matter of fact, many of them now have become friends of mine. What a wonderful job would one ever have!!!
