We had the good fortune of connecting with Nickyy Danger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nickyy, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
The only thing I’ve done that’s felt right for me has been solo artistic & creative endeavors. Nobody except my mother supported my musical pursuit until just recently. It has always just been what fit best and aligned to me.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always been unique. All the way from my sound down to how I operate my business. I’m most proud of hitting several detrimental obstacles but staying determined to strive and thrive. I built everything I have piece by piece, part by part. After awhile I looked around and said “well damn” and the gravity set in a little more of what had been accomplished. Nothing worth having is easy, I’ve failed, came up short, lost track, etc. but I always stayed resolute in the fact that I could build my vision in such a way that others would not only understand it but enjoy it as I do. I learned trusting people can be hard and sometimes hurtful but in the same breath I’ve learned other people are worth the trust. I’ve also learned I’m never done learning. I guess I’d be happy if the world knew Madd Ox Studios and Nickyy Danger were only about helping the “little guy”, helping people see their dreams through no matter how obscure or absurd, believing when others won’t.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d definitely take them to Bonez For a karaoke/open mic night, nasa rd 1 & Hwy 270, Scout Bar underneath that because of the family vibes, the Screwed up records and tapes shop on fuqua for more unity, excitement and some amazing historical merchandise. Other than that any friend of mine 9 times out of 10 loves music and would probably wanna just hang at the studio. the days here are movie/Netflix series worthy most of the time anyway
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely my main shout out would have to go to my mother, may she rest with the angels, my Wife Tara for being my rock also for putting up with my irritation and dream chasing, and my kids, Maddox, Harlow, Hendrix, Lennox, and Liam for being my tiny balls of motivation
