We had the good fortune of connecting with Willie Moss and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Willie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Music has the power to take you places, literally and metaphorically. By hearing a certain song can take you back to a place that can be either dark or bright. For me, as an artist, it’s my objective to deliver content that puts people in a positive space. Look around the world, there’s plenty stuff going on that can affect you negatively if you allow it. I’ve always had a strong passion for empowering others. By releasing music, I am able to encourage others to think optimistically by speaking to them directly. God has blessed me with a gift that I can use to help people see what they CAN do. Life for some can be a short ride. It’s a blessing to have the opportunity to help others either enjoy the journey or motivate them to achieve their goals.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
For me, life has always been about empowering others. Nothing satisfies me more than this particular act. I’ve found numerous ways to execute this life mission and it has been a pleasure every step of the way. Anytime I had the big checks coming in, I found ways to get my people on or involved. Working in healthcare has me empowering and supporting others who are facing challenges that quickly adjust your life perspective. Encouraging others to leap is sometimes the difference between them doing it and losing it. If you ask me, I’m going to tell you to trust God & let the dice dance! In 2020, I decided to release my first song entitled “Top Down” but do not mistake me as new to this. I’ve been working on music as a hobby with friends for 10+ years and even used to sell cd’s out the backpack as a teenager. The response I received from “Top Down” was so overwhelmingly positive that I’m currently strategically transitioning to become a full time artist. A videographer from LA reached out to me with hopes of shooting a video for this track and that video is currently in post production, slated for a spring release! I am tremendously excited for this! To be honest, for me, it’s about operating at a high, professional level. Especially when it comes to music. In order to do that, it takes a team and resources. People around told me for years to begin releasing content but the timing just never felt right. Saying that today however would be so far from correct. The time is now. Not yesterday, not next year! All the resources I lacked for years God has suddenly placed around me. Getting to 2021 wasn’t easy. Imagine babies that you’d never get to see grow past infancy. Not 1 or 2, but a lot of them. That’s how it’s felt at times recording songs that don’t drop. I overcame these challenges by relying on the faith that God would provide the harvest at the right time, if i could just keep sewing seeds. The biggest lesson I’ve had to learn along the way is likely my least favorite, PATIENCE. Another that comes to mind is NETWORKING. Networking all these years now has equipped me with the necessary pieces for success. My advice to my peers would be to support others, big or small. Your encouragement could be the last piece they need to leap. Keep in mind, collaboration is very crucial. I want the world to know Willie Moss the artist is here to encourage, empower, and excite you! Every life is unique of course, however we do all experience a roller coaster of ups and downs. Let my content reflect for you a soundtrack of this journey. It’s my mission is to uplift you through vibrations while also revealing resources to help you navigate. Willie Moss is a country born, city slick, God fearing, optimist. Watch and be entertained as I merge the two very different cultures into tracks and videos while displaying my unique perspective on the things many of us go through on this voyage called life!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Let’s say my favorite cousin was visiting Houston from his small country town in the Appalachian Mountains.. First things first, we have to keep him fed! -Donut Haven (previously called Donut Heaven) for the donut holes and the breakfast tacos. This is a place in southeast Houston I used to ride my bike there before I even had a car. Forget Shipleys, they count donut holes there, and country boys preferred to order by the bag size. -Papadeauxs Seafood off 610. You already know how it goes down here but he doesn’t so let’s put him on. I’ve never had a plate of seafood there what wasn’t “scrum-didily-umtious” *Ned Flanders Voice* combine that with the Grand Hennessy and the lively vibes… yup! a must stop! – LA Crawfish Shack off Gessener easy peel shrimp house spicy for the win! -Koffeteria for the Tiger Uppercut! if you know, you know! -House of Blues or White Oak for the shows -Almeda Mall for some new shoes -WonderlikeWander & Frost Town in East Downtown to get fresh -Sanman Studios and Prauper to watch @PortraPierre shoot in film for creative vibes -St Arnold’s Brewery for the tour and some Art Car -Toyota center or Minute Maid for a ball game -Neil’s Bar some we can play some Sega Genesis or Super Nintendo for nostalgia purposes -The Locker Room off Ennis St to hear @OmgItsYobi spin -Miller Outdoor Theatre to prove you don’t have to spend money to have fun

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to Rick Holgin, my step father. Moving to Houston from West Virginia at the age of 10 was a complete about-face. Suddenly, I was immersed in a culture completely different from what I had previously known. Moving from a small Appalachian town to one of the most diverse cities in the world required some adjusting. Rick helped me transition by exposing me to new scenes and coaching me to grab opportunities when they revealed themselves. What was the first lesson I had to learn you might wonder? No more going to sleep with the doors unlocked!
