We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherry Eichberger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sherry, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson I’ve learned in starting 2 businesses after the age of 45 is that if you have enough passion and determination you can do ANYTHING!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve created two businesses from scratch! One at 46 years old and one at 50 years old. I’ve always been an entrepreneur from the time I was 8 years old and created a stuffed animal “Zoo” in my backyard and charged the neighbors to view the “animals,” to my vision of starting a sustainable retail business that benefitted people and planet, to losing that business and reinventing myself as a creative business consultant at 50 years old. If you could sum up my career story the message would be that you’re never too old to reinvent yourself and start over to realize your full potential and dreams. With passion and determination there’s no obstacle that you can’t overcome. I was a stay at home Mom for many years as it was very important to my husband and I. I put my dreams and ambitions on hold happily. Many of my peers are winding down at my age (58) but I’m just getting started!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, first of all I love to cook, bake and entertain so I would have many delicious meal experiences planned for right here in my home. For a night out I would take them to Sambuca because although they’ve been around a while I love the vibe there. Saturday we would head over to Urban Harvest Farmer’s market where I would show off all the fresh produce and badass local farmers. During the week I’d take them to the Heights for lunch at Local Foods then shopping at all the local shops like Darling Way Boutique on White Oak finishing up our day with the best cookies in Houston from Michael’s Cookie Jar! We’d also attend Bingo night close to my house and probably taco’s and margaritas at my fav corner restaurant, Romero’s Las Brazas. If we had time I’d take them down to the Kemah boardwalk for some yummy seafood and shopping! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my Mom! She raised me to be a strong, fierce, independent women. She also taught me to laugh through life’s most difficult moments. She was and is an angel!
