We had the good fortune of connecting with Meredith Kopal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meredith, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
There are so many affirmations I love! I even compiled a lengthy list of great ones on both my blog and Instagram page. One of my all-time favorites is by James Keller: “A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.” I find this so significant in the blogging world because it means you have nothing to lose by helping bring someone else up. It costs nothing to support fellow bloggers on social media and nine times out of ten when I’m supportive of someone else they, in turn, do the same for me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started this blog a few months after I decided to become a stay at home parent and I had quickly learned how isolating and lonely that life can be. I wanted a way to connect with other parents to get new ideas, ask questions, and just overall reassurance that I wasn’t totally failing at mom life! At first, it was not easy but now I think I’ve learned how to manage my time better and figure out what areas I want to focus on and prioritize the most. For example, I’ve scaled back on writing paragraphs and paragraphs on my blog and now just stick to shorter messages and more content on my social channels. I find that’s a way for me to easily communicate with more people and far less time consuming than a lengthy blog post that will probably go unread by most anyway.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t venture out of the Woodlands bubble too often, so if a friend was in town visiting we would most likely stay in the north Houston area. I love meeting friends in the morning at Blue Door Coffee and then walking a few miles on the scenic waterway. Favorite lunch spots in this area are Flower Child, True Food Kitchen, and Deacon Baldy’s if we have the kids with us! Sometimes we get a wild hair and take the kids to the Houston Zoo or take a weekend trip down to Galveston and rent a house on the beach. I love living in such a diverse, versatile city with endless options for activities!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my husband, Ryan for always putting up with me! He is always such a good sport about taking the picture “just one more time” and planning with me to make sure he’s home with the kids so I can attend industry events or obligations. I definitely could not do anything without his help, love, and support. We had three children in three short years and teamwork parenting has always been a top priority with us. We’d both lose our minds otherwise!
