We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process had a lot to do with creating a brand that allows me to express myself in a unique way. Designing cloths give me the platform to express all my creative ideas and innovate them simultaneously. Also being optimistic, this could be something I could pass down to my kids in the future if they embark the same drive and passion I have for art.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is definitely original but I do get inspirations from books, movies, fashion shows and more. Xile Nation isn’t just a made up brand I thought of in a day and put it out. When I started designing in 2013, it wasn’t until years later I came up with the name Xile. The story of Moses was my inspiration. A Nation of people who aren’t corrupted by society and will stand with each other no matter how tough the road gets. I have to admit that at the beginning it felt like I knew enough. As the years passed, each year I grew even wiser and even more inventive. I’ve learned some tough lessons along the way. One main lesson was sharing your ideas with the wrong people. They’re people out there who will take your ideas if you are not careful. Learn to keep everything to yourself until you are ready to reveal your idea the proper way. It’s okay to be private sometimes. I want the world to know that Xile Nation is versatile. I don’t target one crowd. I will put my heart and soul into this brand and as long as God allows me to be productive. We have thousands of ideas in the works and we will do our best to reveal them in the best way possible for any and everyone.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For breakfast I would take them to Frank’s grill. My family and I eat there all the time and I’m really good for a good price. Then I would definitely take them to the museum’s of Houston. The museum gives a very calm yet surprising vibe. Also you can see good outdoor spots in the city while doing so. Then I would take them to Pappas Seafood for lunch. One of the best spots in Houston in my opinion. After I’ll most likely introduce him/she to some of my other friends. Most likely go to fun eventful place like Dave and Busters. We can play some fun games and have a few drinks. That’s always fun. Before we head out to the night life, I would definitely bring them by my Mom’s crib to have some of her Caribbean food. She has never lets me down and anyone who has tried her cooking loved it.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give recognition to my parents for standing behind me on this new journey. They have encouraged me and also given me knowledge on how to present myself. Also my big sister. She has always been wise in the business field and she a been the perfect person to look to when it comes to creating a brand and promoting my business. Lastly my friends and family who except my creative aspect and stand behind me.
