We had the good fortune of connecting with Cesalina Davidson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cesalina, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My parents got me involved at the young age of 3 in ballet and even before that I was asked to model for a major real estate brand called Turnberry Towers. My love for being artistic stemmed from that and I have been creating ever since. I feel alive when I step onto the stage and it just feels like home to me. I have also been blessed with finding good mentors like Eric Bruner who has helped me train my voice to the professional level it is at today. I will now also be doing vocal training for new clients and continuing to perform for private clients at events.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My training has been the backbone of my creativity. The more one learns about their craft the better they become at not only performing but at making the experience that much greater for their audience. I thrive on seeing the smiles on faces in the audience or the feedback I receive after any given performance. Children will always be your best gauge for your level of performance. They are pure honesty. I have learned more than anything in my years of performing is to always remain humble and kind. At the end of the day how you made someone feel is what will always be remembered. I began this journey at the age of 3 and I am now 18. I have so much more to learn, many songs to write and perform and a million stages to stand on. I want the world to remember that hard work pays off and to never give up on your dreams. My dedication describes who I am, where I am headed and my training is my brand. I am Cesalina Davidson
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston is a wonderful place to visit and an even better place to live. I would start by picking my friend up from the airport and whisking them off to my favorite restaurant called Pho BN 21 located on Bellaire near Rice Blvd because “Pho” is my favorite food ever. After that we would probably go shopping on Harwin to find some cute outfits to wear out for the evening. In the evening we would probably catch a movie at Edwards Cinema and then head to the Teahouse in Meyerland. Throughout the rest of the week we would visit some of my favorite places like NASA, the Kemah Boardwalk, River Oaks District for more shopping and see some amazing shows in the Arts district downtown at the Hobby Center, TUTS and my home base theatre The Company Onstage. Houston is known for its diversity in restaurants so I will definitely be taking my friend to GEN in Midtown for Korean BBQ, to Garsons on Hillcroft for Middle Eastern and to A’Bouzy for the best Salmon that melts in your mouth. I don’t know much about clubs or bars since I’m only 18 but I hear there are some great places to visit too.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I am going to shoutout to my Mom Juliet who has been my go to driver, mentor, manager and friend through all my many years of pursuing my passions since the age of 3. She has experience in the arts as well and has guided me in making good decisions and most of all keeping me safe in the process. Roy Kasmir Photography and Photography by Marika Mae have been helping me advance my modeling skills with many photo concept shoots which will add value to my portfolio. Last but certainly not least I value the training I have obtained being a part of the acting academy for Theatre Under the Stars.
