We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Herse and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I decided to start my own business, I had to ask myself a few questions. 1. Do I have a special skill set that can help people? 2. What pain point(s) am I trying to solve for my clients? 3. Would I choose to do this career, even if I am not financially successful?
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I like to think that my brand of fitness is unique because of my own unique background. I have competed in Crossfit, powerlifting & bodybuilding so I have a wide variety of experiences that I like to draw from. I love teaching people to lift heavy but also chase their body composition goals through the power of weights. I love empowering women to be strong and to experience the same mental and physical transformation that I experienced when I started lifting. It’s taken me a long time to refine my brand and establish genuine connections with my community. I’ve learned to not take things too personally and accept your failures and mistakes as part of the process. Consistency and perseverance are key!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston has a lot to offer for sure! I love taking weekend walks or bike rides along Buffalo Bayou. For lunch, I’m a huge fan of the salads at Local Foods or Barnaby’s. And for dinner, my favorite spot would be Uchi for omakase. It’s also fun to check out my local EaDo coffee shops like Tout Suite or Brass Tacks.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my husband for supporting me in this journey! When we met, I had a very corporate career and neither of us expected me to make a full 180 to pursue my passion. It’s been a long road, but he has never once doubted me or stopped supporting me. I couldn’t have done it without him!
