We had the good fortune of connecting with Philanesia Wiley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Philanesia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was to take control of my own financial freedom and not giving anyone else the opportunity to dictate how much money I made, how I provided for my family or determine my employment.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Queen Wiley Services LLC is a commercial and residential cleaning service. What sets us apart from other cleaning services, is we’ve created our very own handmade nontoxic cleaning products. I’m most proud of the level of customer service I provide and taking part in Share the money and the mic. That program selected 40 Black Women Owned businesses out of 300 to pitch for contracts to over 30 fortune 500 companies and we were one of them. I believe that no client is just a client, instead they are family! I got where I am today business -wise by building relationships and listening to the needs of my clients. It was not easy. In fact, there were lots of push backs from things like financial capital to being overbooked and under staffed. I learned to set aside a certain percentage of my earnings and started to book services that were beneficial to my business. Along the way I’ve learned to ask for help when needed. What I want the world to know about my business is that we go above and beyond to provide quality service . By providing quality services, we improve the living quality of our clients.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend came to hang out for a week, I’d take them to The Turkey Leg Hut because the owners are my friends and it’s a great environment for food, drinks, hearing great music. We’d also go the the Improv to get a few laughs at whatever comedian is booked for that weekend. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to Kimberly Murphy of Southpark Braids for started her own hair-braiding business . We all know the most important part of the process is starting!
