We had the good fortune of connecting with Chichi Marie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chichi, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Because I can’t imagine doing anything else.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Chichi Marie (Previously known as “Chiemeri “ Born Chiemeri Osemele) I am a First Generation Nigerian American Actress, Model, Songwriter, classically trained Vocalist, and Classically Trained Dancer ( Ballet, Tap and Jazz). My music has taken me all over Texas, other regions of The United States, and my music is also played on an international level as well. My music has a media base on the “Urban AC” and “Pop” playlist. I’ve been featured in several magazines “The Hype Magazine” and “Meeko TV” and “Street flava” TV shows to name a few and i’m gracing the cover of a few magazines this year, and now I’m in this one! Yay! One of my highest honors was singing the National Anthem at Houston Stadiums for Home Games. Besides my own music, I have featured with other well known artist of the Houston area like Paul Wall, Slim Thug, & Just Brittany. On the modeling side, I was scouted at the age of 15 and signed with Neal Hamil Agency. This began my career in print, runway and music video modeling, starring in Music Videos like “We gon Lean” with Lil Troy & Lil Flip. I also was blessed enough to land lead roles in top Musical Theater productions since Jr. High, so it was only natural that I found my way back to the stage. I made my professional theatrical debut in 2019 after landing the lead role in “African Mean Girls “ this was my 1st audition for a professional theater. In this role, I was able to take the audience on a roller coaster of emotions. Laughter, anger, sorrow and tears, and did all of this in an authentic West African Accent with mannerisms to match. I truly became Paulina. The audience weren’t the only ones who sang their praises. D.L. Groover, Journalist with The Houston Press said my performance in “African Mean Girls” was “Riveting.” Link to article: https://www.houstonpress.com/arts/things-to-do-a-review-of-school-girls-or-the-african-mean-girls-play-11358522 I plan to continue to work on my craft and I’m excited to see what the future may hold as I continue to pursue a career in Theater, TV, & Film.
