We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting your own business without any help or guidance was me, I just jumped straight into it, after graduating from Culinary school. My thought process was overwhelming. Wondering if it will be a successful business or will I have a lot of clientele and just how will I over all make this a career and succeed finically.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own a Catering Company called Just Good Catering, I started this company a month after graduation in November of 2018. I’m proud of myself for starting this because it is what I love to do. The energy and great vibes I put into my cooking sets the greatness of my food, it’s like my clients are happy eating and that makes me feel like they can tell I put great energy, love and passion into making the dish. It’s not always easy starting a business it has its ups and downs to it but I feel with dedication and hard work anyone can be successful. I’ve had plenty of doubt and set backs that scared me into not following through with this dream, I put it off for years going to culinary school thinking I wouldn’t succeed. Some lessons I learned with starting a business is not everyone will support you but if you have great genuine people in your life then you have nothing like that to worry about.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Houston has so Many places to go. I would definitely have a friend doing nothing but eating lol I’m so into great foods. So Turkey leg hut, Kamp Houston, Lost and found, taste bar.. things of that nature lol Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My story My Success My Motivation comes from the love and support of My Husband and Grandma as well as My mother plus my Best-friends. These People have pushed me and been their for me through it all, from actually perusing my dreams as a chef to being there for me making a decision to start my own catering company.
