We had the good fortune of connecting with Vera Taku and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vera, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Business = Risk, if you’re not a risk taker then you’re not ready for business. My entire business is based on risk taking, there’s no guarantee of a return when you do an investment in our industry, but you have to do it . Recently I made another big risky investment for the company and indeed it was risky, I recently imported wedding furniture for the first time from out of the country and didn’t know what all came with that, it cost me so much out of pocket without me knowing if it would even come in on time for my event, of which it didn’t, it came in the same day of the event and there was no way to make use of it….. did I cry? Yes, was I frustrated? Yes, was I stressed? Yes,……. But at the end of it all I pulled through pulled some strings and made it happen for the client. That’s Business, I took a big risk and now just waiting with faith that I will see my return. Will I do it all over again ? Yes because it’s worth it.

What should our readers know about your business?
V’etta Creations is and Event company, we specialize in Event Planning, Event Design and Event Rentals. What sets us apart from others is that we take all our clients as family, we aim to give them more than what they want. We are most proud of our inventory, in just 4years we are worth over half a million dollars and that is without any loans. I give all glory to God because with Him on my side and hard work, we are where we are today. No it hasn’t been easy, but we are making it. I would advise for anyone in business to get a good and firm support system, this is how I get over my challenges. I’ve learned a lot and still learning, but somethings that stand out is, always have proper documentations, to protect yourself and clients, always have clients sign contracts first…… and don’t put your trust in anyone. I would like the world to know that, I am a young black woman who took a passion and turned it into a business, with faith, God and hard work our Brand is growing rapidly all out of pocket with NO loans 🙌🏽.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Funny enough I’m in the events industry but I don’t go out much, lol . My friends always suggest the hangout spots. I do like Mexican food and have a few places that are pretty good. Grace’s restaurant is one of them. And you can’t come to Houston without trying out The Turkey leg Hut. And for nighttime or Sunday fundays, you can check out Kamp Houston.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yessss…. would like to give the Biggest shout out to GOD all mighty, then to my Lovely Mother, she has and is my Biggest supporter, without her I don’t know if we would’ve been this far, so for that I say thank you mommy ❤️. Also to my Sister Mrs. Kelly Gray, for always supporting me and pushing me, for seeing the potential in me always. Then my Friend/sisters as I call them and my V’etta Team…… we would be nothing without these people ❤️🙏🏾
