We had the good fortune of connecting with Kev o Razo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kev o, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The phrase “square business” has been around forever, and I felt like I’m the definition. I don’t burn nobody and screw people over I always do good business with everybody
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As far my business, I think what separates me is my simplicity. A lot of the younger rappers like all the effects in there videos but I like to make videos look more cinematic. Effects are cool but I like to tell a story. That’s what excites me, jus being creative I like when I have a vision and bring it to life. That’s how I got to where I’m at, if you pay attention to some of the videos I’ve shot I try and capture scenes that have a meaning just in the shot alone. It wasn’t easy getting to where I’m at right now, I don’t feel like I’ve made it or anything like that, I’m not a selfish person and I think that’s what’s been hard. I want everybody around me to be successful but you can’t force people to do for them when they won’t even more for themselves. Then just regular life problems. I can’t do this without doing that type of situations. I’m grateful for all the struggles because something good always comes out of it. Something that I’ve learned is no mater how people treat you, you still gotta keep your focus on the goal. With that being said the main thing I want the world to no is we are creative people here in houston especially when it comes to this film stuff. Me and my friend want to change the narrative here and make it a film capital
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First I would take them to my top secret taco spot. Then at night I would go downtown and go bar hopping. I like this Irish pub where you can sit outside and being in the city. Then I’m from the north side so anything money making boom has going on you need to go to his parties. I like the sea side lounge so I would take them there to turn up and eat some of their food. Maybe go to sams boat and onyx too
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
J-Stead of Rocc solid helped put me out there, he’s well known on the north side, so it was easy for me to get my name out there by coming up under him. A lot of people don’t give him his flowers but he always looked out me and put me in some good situations to get my brand out there
