We had the good fortune of connecting with Zayda Cortez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zayda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I grew up juggling multiple jobs. However, I never considered the idea of having my own business until I was in my mid 20’s. I guess you can say the entrepreneur craze began a few years ago, which I am thankful for! It taught me how attainable running my own company could be.

I tried different avenues like blogging and a boutique to start. Each time I learned something new. After trial and error, I landed on creating my Houston photo booth and flower wall business, HTX Photo Booth!

I fell in love with the idea of providing my city with premium photo experiences that I could set up all over town! I poured my heart into it. My experience with corporate marketing and blogging set the foundation for how the company would be ran. We now are the top rated company in Google and have a team of 12!

What should our readers know about your business?
What I love the most about my company HTX Photo Booth is that everyone on my team and myself, think about the client first. Whether it be customer service, the look and feel and more. We lead with their best interest in mind.

With that being said, when I started this journey, I used to run all aspects of my business on my own. I used to feel overwhelmed at times, but now I am grateful because it means I understand every facet of my business. I think that is important. I advise all business owners to understand every bit of their business and when they are ready, hire help so that you can focus on growing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting Houston, I would take her to Cuchara for a bowl of pozole and a spicy margarita! From there, we would grab a bike rental and ride to Buffalo Bayou Park for some nice breeze and gorgeous scenery. After a few hours of riding, we would stop for a snack and picnic. Charcuterie board by Charcuterie HTX and an adorable picnic styled by Fancy Picnics.

Both of those companies have incredible woman founders so I love to support them!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate this post to my friends and family for being understanding and supportive about how crazy running a business can be.
