We had the good fortune of connecting with Lizette Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lizette, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always liked doing arts and crafts. I remember making birthday invitations for my cousins birthday parties when I was a teen, loved preparing for a party and just creating things. I have also loved wearing t-shirts; band shirts, school shirts and sports team shirts. So what better way to start my small business than to create t-shirts.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One of the most exciting things about my small business is seeing my customers wearing one of my t-shirts in pictures. It really makes my day seeing someone wear something I’ve created. There is a lot of competition out there but I’m so happy when I get returning customers. It makes everything worth while when you get people coming back to you. Especially when they ask for custom requests.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There’s so many great places in Houston but these are some of my favorites:
Food:
Taqueria del Sol
Carrabba’s – The Original on Kirby
Drinks:
Anywhere in Midtown.
Places to Visit:
The Famous Market
Houston Museum of Natural Science
Kemah Boardwalk
Nasa Johnson Space Center
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband has been my greatest supporter since the beginning. He’s always encouraged me to keep going even though I had felt down or gotten overwhelmed. He gives me the best pep talks and also built my set up for the pop up markets. My family has been a great support too, coming to see me at the market pop ups and sharing my posts on social media.
