Meet Dan Gray | Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dan Gray and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Taking pride in our work and ensuring the customer is happy with the finished product. As well as being punctual and timely with our calls and correspondence and any and all follow up. Also asking for a favorable review after the turf installation is completed.
What should our readers know about your business?
Texans Turf installs artificial turf in the Greater Houston area. We just hit 150 5-star Google Reviews as well as 5-star reviews with Yelp, HomeAdvisor and Facebook. We’re close to 200 and have been in business less than two years. We installed 1.1 million in volume the first year and are on pace to double that this year. We have three trucks, multiple trailers and are currently running three installation crews to keep up with the demand. It has been quite the challenge and lots of learning on the job but it has all worked out for the best and are customers have rewarded our efforts with the many positive reviews and referrals that we receive. I’ve had three separate partners and companies in this line of work and for varying reasons they didn’t pan out. Starting Texans Turf on my own was the best decision I could have made. It shows that with hard work and persistence you can accomplish your goals.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a best friend was visiting Houston we would definitely be eating out as often as possible. Houston has some of the best restaurants in the world with dozens of cuisines and cultures available within a half hour of each other. There’s such a diverse culture here you can’t go wrong. There are also several nighlife hot spots in and around Houston we would visit for cocktails. Including Downtown, The Heights, Rice Military and Montrose areas. All of these places have dozens of bars within walking distance of one another. We would also visit NASA just for the history that it has. Galveston Beach would be another day trip we would make. And possibly an off shore fishing trip into the Gulf of Mexico. We may even try to take in an Astros game at Minute Maid Park or a Texans Game at NRG Stadium. There’s also a lot of local colleges/universities that have Division One Sports teams that are always competitive on the national level.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would have to give credit to my parents for always being supportive of the decisions I’ve made that have led up to where I am now. Having a supportive spouse helps as well. In fact my wife encouraged me to break off on my own and start a business of my own. She even came up with the name, Texans Turf. Without her and the support of my daughter and family I would not be in the position I’m in. There have been many struggles and trials and tribulations but in the end it all worked out for the best.
