We had the good fortune of connecting with Jervon Whitney and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jervon, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Hello! My thought process behind starting my own business is basically to share my passion and to teach and show the world that they too can be fly, classy, glamorous, up to date with trends on a budget!
This is more than just a business to me. It’s my passion, my gift. Fashion has always been my drive and I have a talent that just flows off of me effortlessly.
I love to thrift. And I also love to repurpose and rework my items to fit today’s trends as well.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So my business “Style and Thrift” is basically self explanatory. I style my clients, I have style, I set trends, and I am up to date on the latest trends as well.
Also, on the other side I love to thrift! I love to do thrift flips and show my wonderful clients, supporters what you could do with a $5 etc. item! I love bringing vintage back to life as well.
On my website “Style and Thrift”, you will be able to shop New trends and Thrifted items as well! You will also be able to book services such as consultations, styling sessions, closet organization etc.
It’s literally your one stop shop for all things fashion related. And that’s what makes my business stand out.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestfriend was to visit Houston I would most definitely take them to different restaurants in the area. Lol
Houston literally has some of the best restaurants and by far the best brunch.
Some of my faves are Lost and Found, State Fare, Thirteen Houston and The Breakfast Klub is a huge fave of mine.
Just about every place out here that offers brunch are amazing to me.
Also, the food truck parks, different exhibits out here are wonderful!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My grandmother, my mother, and my Aunt Neicy deserves recognition because they are the reasons why I thrift today. Lol I’ve been going thrift shopping with them since I was a little girl.
My close friends and family definitely deserves recognition for always encouraging me, pushing me, and giving me feed back as well.
