We had the good fortune of connecting with Taiese Nevels and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taiese, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want my legacy to be – Taiese L. Nevels inspired and empowered people to move into their God ordained destinies through her books, speaking engagements, writings, coaching, mentoring, acting and business ventures. People should remember, I had a heart for humanity and I loved sharing wisdom, knowledge and power to help encourage and uplift. The gifts God bestowed upon me are meant to be shared among my circle of influence and beyond.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an Author, Speaker and MBA – I have gotten here from 40 years of observing, learning, inspiring and sharing my wisdom with those around me. I am most proud of my publishing company, businesses and the three books I have written in addition to the two books I will be completing within the next 18 months. Every project I take on as an Author, Speaker or MBA – I aspire to pass along the knowledge I collected over my life through personal, professional and spiritual journeys. I am thankful for each of the experiences I was afforded because it evolved my maturity and fortified the conviction of who I am as an individual. I am convicted by the pursuit of reaching my fullest potential with the time I am given in this life. I am aspiring to leave the world better than I found it, along with creating a legacy of wisdom, knowledge and power.
The road of life has not been easy for me. I have faced adversity in my childhood, teenage years and adulthood. This is exactly why, I strive and fight so hard to keep moving forward in life – no challenge shall be the detriment of you yet, it should be the propulsion to achieving extraordinary measures of life. I have mastered taking challenges faced in life and converting that energy into motivational propulsion. We all face various challenges that could destroy us but, in order to win at life the lesson is to overcome then transform.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When friends come to Houston for a visitation – I like taking them to Brenner’s on the Bayou for happy hour, Scott Gertner’s Rhythm Room and Martini Blu Jazz Cafe. Houston is such a vibrant and diverse city you can find a slew of places for entertaining company. Downtown Houston has some cool spots to check out like Henke & Pilot, 8th Wonder Brewery, Pitch 25 and Chapman & Kirby. We would have to check out my favorite hookah spot Cafe Luxor. If my guest wanted to do a more intimate Hookah experience – I would call Heir Hookah that offer mobile Hookah. Earlier in the week visit we would have to check out the Turkey Leg Hut and 5015 in 3rd Ward. As I mentioned, Houston has so much to offer this list could go on and on.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First off, I must give a shoutout to God bringing me this far in life and continuing to carry me throughout this life. My family is the backbone to why I have strived to push further in life. They are my biggest supporters in all these endeavors – I have challenged myself to take on. My childhood and adult friends, I was blessed with along this beautiful journey of life add color to my life. Without my family and friends the color of my life would be dull and lifeless yet, with them it is invigorating and bright. You learn your circle either helps you succeed or aids in your failures. No matter what you should be learning while being encouraged to keep pressing forward.
