We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Wilturner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I began my first business over 18 years ago as a transport & logistics specialist. The inception of that business came from wanting more for myself and my growing family. I wanted to establish a business and financial legacy for myself and my family in the years to come. As an entrepreneur, it granted me the freedom of unlimited potential.
When I was blessed with the vision to start my second business with ThePocketUSA it was because I am a father before I am anything else. I needed to fill a void in the market. This business is a Labor of Love for my son, your son, your daughter, and all of your loved ones. I wanted to do ALL I could to make sure that my son and everyone’s child could survive police encounters. I didn’t want to see this issue land on my doorstep so I decided instead to step up.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
This business was created to aid in bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community. It is more than that though. It is in the support of the movement of accountability, transparency, educational development, and progress in the diminishment of police brutality in ALL communities. On a daily basis, we reach out to law enforcement globally to educate them and inform them of our product and how it helps to fulfill this mission. ThePocketUSA was created to facilitate safer traffic stops by diminishing/eliminating common concerns and points of tension for both the law enforcement officer as well as the commuter. We have had phenomenal traction by just going for it and not being afraid to fail and it has paid off monumentally. We are dedicated to making this world a better place, one product at a time. We are constantly listening, learning, and growing so stay tuned for more to come from ThePocketUSA.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly, I am a homebody more days than not. However, as a single, full-time father, when I do get out and about I tend to frequent the family-friendly spots around the city. Having children in 3 different age groups is a huge challenge. I tend to favor places like The Main Event and Dave & Buster’s to accommodate everyone’s interests. In addition to this, we like being outside in the parks. Houston has a lot of great parks. Two parks I enjoy are Emancipation Park and Discovery Green. Both have been completely reimagined and offer a lot in and around them. They are both nestled in culturally rich areas where there is so much to learn and do so the adventures are endless.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I give honor and glory to God for trusting me with this mission and giving me the vision and ability to embark on this life-changing movement through an invention and business. Secondly, I have to recognize my family for all of their patience, love, and support. I would not be here today without them. They were very hands-on with me at the inception of this journey. Lastly, but DEFINITELY not least, I have to thank my customers, supporters, and friends who have continued to purchase, encourage and spread the word.
