We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Lilia Hernán and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ana Lilia, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My job is very demanding, it requires a lot of study in Germany or Spain, every time I go to the seminars I take two weeks to enjoy the nearby countries. I look for balance compensating at the same level, if I work a lot I look for rest with the same quality with which I work.
Life is a delicate balance. From the moment we are born, we give back to life what we received through our parents, we give back what we received in education to our community.
Everything that exists needs a constant give and take. This giving and receiving is regulated by the needs of everything that surrounds us in search of the right balance. All systems are looking for a feedback and a balance to sustain it.
When we receive something, we generally feel the urge or need to give it back, to somehow compensate the person who gave it to us. This give and take movement plays a very important central role in the vitality of our relationships. When this exchange takes place in a broad, positive and balanced way, we feel comfortable, happy, light. Giving leaves us feeling full and happy. Whether we give too much or when we receive too much, we create an imbalance that jeopardizes relationships and we put ourselves in danger.
For a balanced relationship to exist, we need to look at where what is hurting me is, and see if I have also contributed to that imbalance. If nature and the world needs balance, our soul and our work lives do too.
The balance between giving and receiving is one of the systemic laws according to psychotherapist Bert Hellinger.
What should our readers know about your business?
In 1991, I initially went to San Antonio, Texas, to study at a Biblical Seminary. After a personal crisis, healing required something profound and the traditional methods that were there gave me no solutions. I sought help out of the ordinary and found holistic courses in France and Spain, where I began my journey within the world of Bert Hellinger’s methods – Family and Systemic Constellations reveal the hidden dynamics in a family system, situations inherited through generations. After one session my life changed, it was like an eye opening for me.
Two years later I found out that what I had been passing through, was the same situation for many people. Family Constellations is a phenomenological method, which included Transactional Analysis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Within five years my life took a turn and I was another person. In 2015, after studying in Germany under Bert Hellinger’s guidance for multiple years, I decided to start Constelaciones Familiares Houston, my own practice to help people in the Houston area.
What I had lived in the spiritual world studying Theology for 25 years, now served me as a tool to understand where the deepest wounds were. This method brings so much light to the person, that it takes very little time to see profound and healing results.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would undoubtedly take her to The River Oaks District, eat a delicious Vietnamese Chicken Phô Soup food at Le Colonial, or an Ahi tuna burger at HopDoddy, and if you want an afternoon outdoors with good music, Toulouse is the best option on Friday or Saturday afternoon. Do you want to go out and cool off? a long walk through the Houston Arboretum and rest your gaze with so much nature in the middle of such a busy city, this park is really an oasis.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Rev. Pablo & Tere Aguiar,
Mariam Haddad, Vania Galindo,
Marybel Yañez.
