We had the good fortune of connecting with Ulyssis Ramos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ulyssis, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe the most important factor for me behind my podcast is passion and consistency. I enjoying doing this podcast every week. It’s been said if you love what you do then it’ll never be considered work. I have a passion for meeting new people and getting to know them. If others can see the passion and love i put into what i do then they’ll enjoy it more as much as i do. I always wanna be consistent with my work whether its putting out an episode, having a special guest on or keeping up with the social media, If you are consistent then more and more people will gravitate towards you and what you have to offer. I try to spend 15 to 20 minutes a day promoting and posting about new episodes, upcoming guest, special giveaways or just engaging with the people who follow. If you want to have a successful business or podcast : passion and consistency are key!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is that i want to continuously evolve the podcast every season. Do more exciting topics or find awesome guests to have on the show. While some are content with sticking to one formula: i want to do something different every season. Whether it be more topic episodes or more guest episodes. Maybe adding another segment or whatever. It’s hard to pick what i’m most proud of but i would have to say overall the podcast itself. I was never the one who people gave an ear to and now people all around the city, the state, the country and the world are giving me their ears now! I’m excited about getting more local Houstonians on the podcast who are making a difference in our communities. I got to where I am at right because of passion, consistency and dedication. It wasn’t easy at first because i didn’t have much support from the ones who i thought would support me but i overcame that hurdle and just kept on grinding and putting out good content.
The lessons i’ve learned these past 2 years have been it doesn’t matter about the listens or the likes. what matters is what you put out there into the world. Doesn’t matter if the ones who you want to listen and support you don’t because for everyone 1 who doesn’t; there are 5 more who will. Never be afraid to ask that artist or podcaster to collaborate. Building a community with your followers, listens and guests are far more important that the likes, shares and repost.
I want the world to know that I wanna put Houston on the map for podcasting. We may not be New York or LA but we have great podcasters who are putting out great content. Inside The Northside is not about me but about everyone who can relate to what i’m saying.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were to come visit of course first things first you gotta take them somewhere to eat some delicious food. The first place i would take them to is Rodeo Goat. Best Burgers in Houston! After that i’d take them sightseeing. Take them to the museum district, around midtown, downtown, EADO. If you’re visiting Houston; its a MUST to go to Minute Maid Park and catch the Astros or The Rockets playing! Then after the game; we’ll head on over to Neil’s Bahr and Pitch 25 and after grab some late night tacos at Taconazo on the Northside. To top off the weekend; we’ll go brewery hoppin because HOuston has some of the best breweries then grab a bit at The Rice Box and before the day ends; head on over to Barbarella and have a great time!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost i would like to thank God because without him; i wouldn’t be where i am today. I also wanna shoutout my parents, my family and friends who support me. I wanna shout out to EVERYONE who listens and follows Inside The Northside Podcast because they are the reason i do this podcast. They make me wanna do better and achieve more! Shout out to Ozeal of Ozeal Media who’s youtube videos helped shape the podcast to be better. Shout out to all my fellow podcasters in the West Coast, East Coast and the podcasters holdin’ it down in H-Town!
