We had the good fortune of connecting with jose najar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi jose, why did you pursue a creative career?
As cliché as it may sound, its true, I didn’t choose to do this, it chose me. What I mean by that is that the appreciation for video/film has always been imbedded in me. From the age of about 12 I remember watching movies through a perspective which at the time I thought was normal. Analyzing angles, shot sequences and behind the scenes material was always fascinating to me. Since that age I have been involved in the arts wether it was through film appreciation classes or theater technology courses, every school year I was involved in some way.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel what sets me apart from my colleagues is the ability to capture to organic element of the situation, I mostly focus on music videos for the time being. So I always try and story board something together.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take said friend out to a live show. With Austin, Tx being the live capital of the world, there is always some dope live acts to check out. There are numerous eateries in the city. One of my faves is a Mediterranean spot named “Kebabalicious’ they have the best falafel. If Italian is the desired taste then I would swing by “Mandolas Italian”. The city is packed with great spots to have a drink, i like to visit “Pinballz” an arcade joint that also has great food.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost my baby momma, April, she pushed me to pursue my talents after high school. I want to also acknowledge my high school teacher/ mentor Cruz Rodriguez. He is one individual that gave me an opportunity and saw the potential at the time that I didn’t. Finally my brother Eric Celedon (EC Photography) he believed in me from the rip. I’ll never forget he invested in me, monetarily speaking, early in building my brand (Najar Media)
