We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Perea and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always wanted to be that self-made woman. Independent, carefree, and on her own time–that’s the woman I wanted to be. Working in Corporate America opened my eyes to the disparities between men and women, especially in income and treatment. I wanted to change that narrative for myself.
I knew that I was so much more than a desk in an office in a building. I wanted to build my dream life from the very bottom. The first business I launched is my eco-fashion boutique LA BOHEME COLLECTIVE, focused on bringing sustainable fashion from global small batch vendors and artisans to affordability. Eco-fashion is so expensive because of the cost associated with farming natural materials for fabrics, and it’s a niche market. But sustainable fashion doesn’t have to be that way. LA BOHEME COLLECTIVE is my solution to this. While still small, I plan to scale this to a point where I’m only selling my designs.
The second business is actually the supreme dream. THE GOLDEN COLLECTIVE is my Digital Strategy agency, and I’ve partnered with a badass woman as my Creative Director and Head of Photography, Ariana Genilla, while I’m the Director of Digital & Brand Strategy. This has been a passion project years in the making, and finally now a full-fledged business. We’ve locked down only clients from our “dream list” and we haven’t even started to market ourselves. I’m so proud of how fast this agency has taken off and our achievements that we’ve reached in the first quarter of business. I’m literally living my dream life.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
THE GOLDEN COLLECTIVE takes a different approach from the usual digital strategy agency. Most agencies have canned processes and protocols on how to handle each client. We make sure that each client’s creative direction and digital strategy are different from the others. Each business is unique, and we truly want to see our clients win and grow. “Helping you grow is our love language.” Our tagline says it all.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh, this is a good one because I love exploring my city, especially the food scene. Las Vegas truly never sleeps, and there’s always something to do, no matter the occasion.
For brunch:
Al Solito Posto is my happy place. They used to only be available for happy hour and dinner service but recently opened up brunch on weekends. I love their menu filled with Italian classics and the bar program is on point. Catch me sitting in the outdoor patio overlooking the Tivoli Village fountain with a refreshing Elixir of Life cocktail in hand.
Head to The Strip to Bardot Brasserie at the Aria for brunch. The Bardot experience has been different ever since Executive Chef Nick Dugan took over. He transformed old school French classics and added a modern American-inspired spin. It’s just so much fun being seated at the red leather banquette and laughing with girlfriends while sipping on a bottle of rosé.
For dinner:
All the way in Spring Valley is Other Mama, my favorite Friday night spot, and also one of the best seafood spots in town tucked away in the corner of a strip mall. This no-fuss raw bar has some of the best libations and tasteful classics on their menu. Try my favorite cocktail, the “Billie Joe,” also dubbed as “the same old shit” when I order. The whitefish carpaccio is to die for and a staple dish at my table.
Sparrow + Wolf throws the best dinner party every single night they’re open. I always feel the best energy from the staff since they’re trained to provide the very best hospitality experience. Chef-Owner Brian Howard and Executive Chef Travis Schultz are geniuses in making sure the menu stays fresh and exciting.
Lastly, Partage is an absolute treat. Whenever I dine here, I always get the seven-course with the premium wine tasting. It’s something I don’t do too often, but when I do go, my group always goes all out. Their themed prix fixe menus change every month, only using seasonal ingredients and perfectly highlighting the flavors of the month.
For drinks:
Bar Zazu at Resorts World is one of the most beautifully designed restaurants I’ve ever walked into. The whole space gives this incredible dreamy and glossy vibe. With an incredible cocktail & bar program, an array of global inspired tapas, and immersive art, you can’t go wrong with this spot. I like to enjoy my Isabella cocktail at the bar or in their gorgeous and exclusive Rosette Lounge while the Doñas of Zazu watch over me from their digital art screens.
Atomic Liquors in Downtown Las Vegas is one of those old dive bar-type venues. The oldest freestanding bar in Las Vegas, this spot is nostalgic for me. I’ve had many fun nights here. And I’ll leave it at that.
For hanging out:
I love exploring Downtown Las Vegas. I usually head to Fergusons Downtown on my weekends to hang out, co-work inside Mothership Coffee (my favorite coffee shop in town), and lay about in the grass. They always have something going on–from farmers markets, local business pop-ups, concerts, comedy shows, liquor tastings, sound baths, pet meet ups, etc. Fergusons is building a community of togetherness, and I love that I feel like I truly belong in this space.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I don’t know what I would do without Ariana Genilla, my Creative Director, Head of Photography, and soul sister. She is the glue that holds me together, and she’s the calm to my chaos.
A strong mother of two, businesswoman, photographer, and wife. She does it all.
