We had the good fortune of connecting with Jahneiss Groce and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jahneiss, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my brands success is my determination to try again after a failure. At times, we can allow us trying something and it not working out to deter us from moving forward on our path. It’s easy to mistake a failure or mishap for a sign that something isn’t for you. Instead, i prefer to look at it as I’m new to this journey, i don’t know everything that’s needed to be successful and this is an opportunity to learn. My favorite phrase is “When God is busy, so is the enemy” and I say that to myself when things seem to not be working in my favor or when i begin to feel that i may be in the wrong lane.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is a lifestyle brand curated around my own testimonials of peaks and valleys, overcoming and conquering some of the hardest trials and moving forward despite it all to build a life that my grandchildren will be proud of. Motivational speaking and influencing first came to me after i was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2010. I began speaking about what i was going through with co workers, friends and family and my vulnerability caused them to want to check their own feminine health. It was then that i realize i was chosen to use this trial as a testimony! As I continued on to marry my boyfriend at the time a year and a half later and have children despite the doctors saying I couldn’t, i wanted to be an example to others of how God can work in your life when everything seems to fall apart. An example to how having faith in yourself and not counting yourself out can result in you having the life you’ve always dreamed of, even if it does look slightly different than you thought.
I am most proud of the fears I’ve conquered through this process. It’s not easy to be vulnerable to people who don’t know you and you can’t see. But doing so is, in my opinion, the only way to truly influence and that’s the purpose I’m here to fulfill. I’m excited about the opportunities i see unfolding for me as I continue to grow my community. We don’t know how far a journey can take us but of course we all have hopes and dreams for the path ahead. I like to think that the hopes and dreams are possible and I’ve been surely doing the work to make sure the sky is definitely the limit.
It certainly hasn’t been easy getting to where I am today. I have had lots of failures and lots of wins. I’ve had days where i felt maybe this actually isn’t for me and I’ve had days where I’m in tears because someone messaged me about how I’ve touched their life. I got where i am today by looking forward because what’s to the right or left of me isn’t my concern. What someone else is doing has nothing to do with me and staying in my own lane has helped me to get from point A, where i started to where i am today.
My greatest lessons have been that I’m uniquely created and that’s what i need to give to the world. That giving false versions of myself will never last because thats not truly who I am and who I am is more than enough. To be intentional with all I do and never stray from the path.
I want the world to know that my brand is here to empower, motivate, encourage and inspire women and men alike to go after their dreams and not allow life happening keep them from their ultimate happiness! Within my brand you will see family, travel, marital and motherly humor, advice and encouragement! My goal and ultimate prayer is to touch anyone who God intends for me to and to build a community of positivity and enlightenment!!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Of my best friend was visiting i would first take her to brunch at Taste bar Kitchen or lunch at Bloom and Bee. Then if she wants to do a little shopping, we would head to the galleria. If she’s coming with her babies, we would go downtown to Discovery Green, Museam of Natural Science or Main Event. For some aquamarine/ water park fun, Moody Gardens in Galveston, Tx or Typhoon Texas in Katy, Tx. For some evening fun, we could catch a movie at IPIC, have drinks at one of the trendy spots in the River Oaks Center or go listen to music and have drinks at Sambuca downtown or Cafe 4212
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out my Husband, Jonathan, for supporting me beyond my wildest dreams. Thank you for learning how to be my photographer, doing content on your days off from your own career, learning the trendy dances with me, helping with content ideas, picking me up when i feel down about the direction of my brand, reassuring me of my worth and doing whatever it takes to help my dreams become a reality. I am who I am because of your love and devotion to me and I’m so grateful for your presence in my life.
I’d also like to shout out my sister, Jocelyn. You supported me when you didn’t agree with me. I remember you calling me in the beginning of my journey and telling me about a dream you had. You saw me representing a brand at Target and bought everything underneath the ad lol. It was then you said, “keep going. You are on to something and I’m proud of you!” Thank you for those words and all the encouragement you constantly give! Thank you for believing in what I’m doing and opening your mind and heart to where this could take me and the family you’ve watched me create!
I would also like to shoutout my mom, Nichelle Andrews! You and I have been through all of life’s ups and downs, together, side by side. I’m so grateful to be able to witness Gods grace work through you and all you have been through. You taught me to keep going, no matter what, keep going! You taught me to believe in myself even when no one else does. You taught me to trust God above all else, no matter what life may bring. Thank you for all your sacrificing to make me into the woman and mother I am today!
Last but not least, my sister from another mister, Samvia Henry. The long phone calls, the state wide visits, the prayers we have shared together and separately for each other. Meeting you through this influencing journey has been one of the most beautiful parts of the whole process. You help me remember what I’m capable of and force me out of my comfort zone!! 4 states in between us and we seriously couldn’t be any closer. I love your sisterhood and passion for success you instill in me daily! Thank you for being my friend, i will forever be grateful for you.
