We had the good fortune of connecting with Marvin Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marvin, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson I have learned is to be yourself. I know a lot of people preach this but it’s true. You won’t gain anything from trying to be someone you’re not. Not only will you gain clients but you’ll also gain people who want to work with you because of who you are.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am excited to see where I go from here. I’ve been on a small pause but my foot has never been so ready to hit the petal. I originally started at Topshop. I was the personal shopping manager. They through me into a huge responsible role where I was required to network, cultivate events , and outreach to people I never tonight I’d speak to. I was very young when I started to put my foot out there and had to learn a lot on my own. So many people I knew had so much experience in my field it was tough keeping up. My talent is was got me where I am today and has proven I’m not some kid who’s learning if not someone who knows what they are doing. I am an open book and want everyone to know that my brand is all about inclusivity. We all should have an opportunity.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well if I had a friend come over visiting Houston for the first time I’d definitely take them to eat some crawfish! I don’t think a lot of people get to enjoy sea food in that style. There is so many places to see in Houston. Some of my favorite is local and no cost. Buffalo bayou is so beautiful and had such amazing views especially the best downtown views !
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I just want to show love to everyone who has seen be grow , elevate , and transform into who I am today. I have such a huge support group from family to friends that have an interest in me and want to see me succeed.
