We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan English and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’m an entrepreneur by nature. From 13 years old I’ve always created ways to make money starting by selling snacks at school. INFLUENCE Bar and Grill is actually my third business and it started because I wanted a bar and a place to hold events and always have a space to vibe. I always enjoyed hosting events and creating a space where people can express, enjoy and be entertained. This is why INFLUIENCE started. Daily it promotes the Barbadian and other Caribbean cultures and is a great place to have fun with friends and make new ones.
What should our readers know about your business?
I got to where I am currently by capitalising on every opportunity that passed my way. I always aim to see “what can come out of a situation”, and I fearlessly and quickly start action and put things in motion. I am most proud that I was able to take Instagram followers/ supporters and give them a physical environment to enjoy. Challenges are a part of the journey, understanding that is the first part in overcoming them. Along the way I have learnt many lessons, one of which are; to embrace the challenges. Be consistent, persistent and embrace the challenges.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would start at Barbados’ Harrison’s Cave for a tour, spend time at the beaches, and of course come to INFLUENCE Bar and Grill for games night, karaoke, great food, drinks, and lots of fun.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My grandfather, the late Dennis Eversley. He was always a straight-book businessman and inspired me to be self-employed. My mother Tracie who has always supported my concepts and whatever I wanted to do, whoever I wanted to be. My friend Lamar ‘Cakesoap’ who pushed me to be an entertainer and provided content that allowed me to be build a following.
