We had the good fortune of connecting with Claribel Casas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Claribel, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor in Pupcuterie Boards is the happiness my homemade treats bring to all the fur babies. My favorite part of this business is receiving all the photos and videos of pups enjoying our treats.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
This brand is near and dear to my heart. Anyone who knows me knows my dogs are my kids and being able to grow this business with them is a dream. I think the biggest challenge with growing my small business is exposure. Using social media as a way to market your business sounds easy but it was a huge undertaking. Finding your target audience, creating packaging/presentation that photographs well and remembering to always be active on socials were the biggest hurdles.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are based out of the Eastwood area in Houston which is a total hidden gem. So many new places to see and I feel like the area is not well known.
I actually hosted a bike ride to local places for my friends before to show off my beloved east end.
My favorite neighborhood bar is East End backyard , obviously because of the enclosed dog park, Night Shift is a very close second.
Favorite place to eat in the area would be nancys hustle and you’ve got to have the Nancy cakes, they are to die for!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Pupcuterie Boards started as a personal way of spoiling my dogs, when friends started inquiring about baking for their dogs I knew this was something I could turn into a business I’d enjoy doing. Working a full time job and baking fresh treats almost every day is not an easy task and I would not be able to do this without my partner, Anthony. Pupcuterie Boards is completely run by us and he has been a trooper and baked late into the night many times to get orders out on time. Our dogs Winston and Archie handle all taste tests when rolling out new treats, and testing recipes. It really has become a family owned business all 4 of us enjoy.
