We had the good fortune of connecting with LISA BRAT MARTINEZ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LISA BRAT, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks are frightening but also an opening of another avenue in ones journey in life. I have had moments when I wasn’t sure of what I should do next, I kept the faith and followed God’s lead. We all need to experience the good and the bad so we can appreciate what really matters. One of my biggest learning lessons from taking a risk has been, I can be me and not what others want me to be. You have one life so live it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
During my school years, I was the one getting bullied for my choice of style and clothes. Back then I rocked a mohawk, tank top and combat boots. That set me apart from others but it is okay to be different Be you and love yourself for who you are. To this day, I do the same minus the mohawk. So when it comes to being in films or tv shows, I did deep from life experiences and use that for the role.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First thing is going to Smither Park for some fun photo ops. It is full of artistic creations with lots of mosaic designs. Then we would head over to Brothers tacos and drive through Tinsley Park.

Next day we go to Traders Village and browse the multitude of vendors. Afterwards we can eat at BB’S and check out the antique shops in the Heights.

We definitely need to visit my neighborhood of East End. I would give a tour that would include Austin high school and Triangle Park. Having dinner at El Jardin is a must. Then check out the Graffiti in downtown.

One thing for sure is attending an Astros game at Minute Maid.
Or perhaps the Texans and go by the Astrodome and see where Astroworld used to be.

For a fun day we can visit the zoo, then the butterfly center and museums. Later we can head to Rice Village for some food and browse the shops.

For a relaxing day, a visit to Discovery Green would be nice. With dinner at Pappadeaux to finish the evening.

To end the trip, we would jump in the truck, turn the music up and just cruise the city streets of my beautiful Houston.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My tio Danny Trejo aka Machete aka My Hero. Our conversations consist of life and everything in between. The acting and stunt tips are the most fun. His knowledge and experience is historical both on set and in life. He is always a phone call or a flight away. Now I am enjoying the sober life with him.
The advice he has given me is something I use and treasure.

My kids aka miracle babies, my love for you all is endless and remember you are all more than enough for me. My parents, my strength, words can’t express my love for you both enough, I hope you see it in my actions. My Pablo, my rock, God had a plan and I’m thankful for you. I love you unconditionally.
