Hi Migena, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
First, I would like to thank you for this amazing opportunity to share my journey about Chic Flowers Houston. My name is Migena Bahja, and I am the founder of Chic Flowers Houston. I am from Albania. A hidden gem in eastern Europe. I grew up in a family with powerful women like my mom and my sisters. Each of them influenced my personality and my future as well. They are my role models and I have always looked up to them for guidance. Since I was little, I had the chance to engage in the business industry because of my family. We started a small family business as event planners. Our goal was to make our customers’ events unforgettable. We were fully dedicated in our business, and I am proud to say that we were very successful. Beside organizing events, we were also designing the decor for our customers special days like weddings, birthday parties, proposals, private ceremonies, etc. One of many services we offered was also floristry, especially for big events like weddings. Working in this beautiful industry, I had the opportunity to develop my passion and improve my skills in floristry. I was lucky to have this job and invest time on my passion because it helped me to become an expert at a young age. When I moved to Houston, I decided to launch Chic Flowers Houston as a continuation of the dream to transform events into beautiful memories. My goal is to offer innovative and unique services for the best price. After 3 years in business, I am very proud of our excellent work and I hope people will always perceive my talent and my effort in all flower compositions I make.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I always say that I have the most beautiful job in the world. Being a florist is very fun and the satisfaction you get from customers is above the stress or tiredness. I started to work in this industry many years ago and I have been able to improve my skills and my creativity as well. What sets me apart from other florist is the experience, qualifications and the quality of products. I have many years expertise in floristry and I am also certified and well trained. In Chic Flowers Houston people will find a different style of flower arrangements and unique designs. I am very proud of my business and of what we serve to customers. Our flower arrangements are very special, made with a lot of love and passion. At Chic Flowers Houston you will find best quality flowers and delicate taste for the bouquets or flower box. I try my best to bring new ideas and I work hard to maintain a high standard of my work. We are not an ordinary flower shop, but we express our feelings and thoughts throughout flower arrangements. And I think this is very hard to find in most of the flower shops. Our customers are our biggest fan and they motivate us to work hard and be always on top. As every small business, we have had or obstacles especially during the Covid-19 era, but thankfully we made it.the demand for flowers was high, but we were short in inventory and our supply was delayed. They were times where we couldn’t reach our customers expectations, but they were very understanding and patient with us. During the pandemic I think was the best time for all of us to learn something. Especially the importance of family, love for each other, and that small things make the difference. I hope everyone who reads this interview will understand that Chic Flowers Houston doesn’t just sell a product , but it is a team who makes your event unforgettable . Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Usually when my sisters visit me in Houston I try to create a small agenda for places we want to go. Houston offers a diversity of food culture and has amazing spots where we like to go. In our list for restaurants are Mia belle, Chama gaucha, Marmo, La pasha and Lava. We love to drink cocktails and some of our favorite bars are Yard House, Urban social, bIvy and Bohem. For activity usually we like to go in escape rooms . play golf or go to dance in night clubs. Cle is a very good place as a nightclub. Also Lumen for after party.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In my journey of creating and running my small business I had the endless support of my fiance, Altin. He has been in every step of the journey with me and I feel like we both created Chic Flowers Houston. I could not achieve and thrive this much without his encouragement and support. Having a partner who helps and assist you accomplishing your dreams, it’s life changing and I feel the luckiest girl. Since I decided to launch my small business, Altin has been very involved and helpful and he deserves recognition as much as me. He inspires me and helps to create new designs, and unique flower arrangements every time. His dedicated work brought my business in another level . It helped increase our sales and also to have a better customers service . The reason why Chic Flowers Houston is successful today, it is because of our hard work and our determination to make the difference in flower industry. Our customers have the absolute best quality of flowers and our arrangements are one of the kind. I am very grateful for his help and I am very lucky to share my life journey with him.
