We had the good fortune of connecting with RDG Surge and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi RDG, what do you attribute your success to?
Got to remain consistent and keep grinding, a lot of this stuff doesn’t happen overnight so you can’t be discouraged or you’re going to lose a lot of sleep and damage your mental. Just keep going, you become a brand yourself and need to take your brand seriously which is taking yourself seriously in itself.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Nah, none of it was easy. Trying to figure out things and the general concern for your future is the hard part. But after awhile you just kind of realize you just have to keep going. It’ll happen if you stay consistent enough. I invested in myself too, even at the beginning of 2022. I probably put $15k starting towards music just from the jump. You have too. But all in all it’s important that you take yourself seriously. My musics a little different because I don’t cap about anything I do. If it’s in a song, I’ve done It. I don’t need to sound like nobody, I got my own voice too.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In Hollywood, probably Mauros Pizza or I’ll go down into Hallandale and get some Sonny’s or something. Honestly I be in my hood, not always in the street or nothing but I prefer the comfort of where I live than all the attractions and stuff.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My producer “Kassobeats”, my engineer “Magik Miami”. Shay “My Manager”. Yamile “My Girl/Backbone” couldn’t have gotten this far without her. Everything counts even with the little ups and downs. Can’t discredit anything because it molded me to keep maneuvering and maintaining.
