We had the good fortune of connecting with Rana Yacoub and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When starting Rana Visuals, my thought process and business plan were both formed around a simple thought, “Do what you love”. I absolutely love capturing memories that my clients will cherish forever. I did not want Rana Visuals to be a business deal between couples and me to just “take photos” on their wedding day. Instead, I created my brand as a relationship between couples and me, where Rana Visuals Photography is chosen to capture their special day based on style and trust.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Rana Visuals is a wedding photography business based in Houston Tx. My photography style is light and timeless to represent such happy and love-filled memories I am capturing. I truly believe that my photography and editing style are what make Rana Visuals signature photos consistent and unique. While photographing couples during their engagement shoot or on a wedding day, my favorite photos to capture are of the couple interacting with one another. These candid shots really shine through and make for breathtaking portraits. There were several challenges along the way, especially within my first year after launching Rana Visuals. I overcame these challenges by constantly looking for what I could do better and connecting with my clients. Connecting with my clients through phone or virtual meeting consultations became a part of my brand. I want to know my couples and understand what they are looking for in a photographer to capture their special day.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
With so much to do in Houston, I always find a way to tie in my favorite photography spot into the itinerary. Herman Park is my favorite location in the city, I would start the day off with a picnic breakfast to enjoy the scenery. Next, the Art Museum would be a walk away to enjoy the gorgeous galleries. Houston is definitely known for its diverse restaurants, a weekend trying new food is definitely a vibe for me.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wanted to spotlight a quote I kept looking back to over the years. “The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it, keep looking. Don’t settle.” – Steve Jobs. I truly believe that if it was not for this quote, I would not know how wonderful it is to create great work in what I love.
