We had the good fortune of connecting with Ikeshia Jacobs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ikeshia, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from Baltimore Maryland born and raised, I grew up around a lot of violence and abuse. I grew up poor, sometimes we had no food at all in the refrigerator. I was always into trouble at school always suspended. When I started high school my mother suffered from a heart attack which landed her in a coma for a while, I had to stay with my father and visit her this was a very difficult time in my life. I decided to stay with my father after she came home she dropped me off to him around the age of 12-13. Living with my father was very hard I was back and forth between my mom and dads house through out my teenage years. At 12 I started writing music about the pain that I’ve endured and how I wanted to be a big star when I grew up, I always knew I would be some kind of influencer in the world. My upbringing has taught me to be strong and to never give up on my dreams because they will eventually come true which contributes to who I have become today.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create content on YouTube, reaction videos and I also vlog. I started out with a couples channel in 2018 we separated the channels in 2021 by then we already reached 1,000 subs. I continued the channel on my own and became monetized reaching over 2,000 subscribers with over 100k views which I was very excited about! It was a lot of hard work and dedication I posted videos daily sometimes 2-3 times a day. I did learn that YouTube is not easy when it comes to gaining subscribers and viewers I had to do a lot of research on the algorithm. Soon I will be starting a podcast hoping to reach others that can relate to my story & hopefully help others overcome and deal with certain things in life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The water wall and the museum of art. Ador Houston is a fun place to vibe and listen to music. Kamp Houston has great seafood. Lost and found has the best macaroni if you love spice. And Prospect park has good wings.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My partner has supported me in a lot of my decisions since we have been together, supporters from YouTube that subscribed and watched my videos that helped me get monetized, Leeleeurstrulee shouted me out on her channel and I immediately gained over 1,000 subscribers in just a few days.
